Greetings! Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "Rejoicing in Life"

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That is what is resonating from within me as I pen this final Thought. Twenty-one years ago, as I stepped up to pulpit ministry, I had no idea how many wonderful and challenging life experiences awaited me! I began writing these “Thoughts” twenty years ago the week of the Cedar Fires. And wouldn’t you know it the topic was Gratitude! That small insert began to grow each continuing week and became my “seed thoughts” for the upcoming Sunday’s message. I have loved writing these and I’ve heard from many of you how much they have helped you in some way and for that I am grateful. If the paper had a budget to compensate me going forward, I just might continue but alas such is not the case.

Sunday’s topic is “Rejoicing in Life” and what a joy it is to live this Life of God – each of us in our own unique and wonderful way! Rejoicing, being grateful and focusing on the positive enlivens the soul and brings rich rewards we could never orchestrate on our own. Life responds and reflects back to us what we put into It. And when I say “Life” it encompasses ALL the various forms physical and spiritual that make up existence. There is so much of Life that is a mystery; so much we yearn to understand and yet the Divine Reality is beyond finite comprehension. That’s why, to me, it’s just best to step out in faith accepting we are always in our right and perfect place AND the more we open our hearts, commune, and trust our inner guidance, our lives will be directed in amazing and glorious ways. When we do that, we find there is something greater within us than we have ever imagined. Take the time this coming week to rest in the silence; resonate with your inner Being, your whole and holy Self. Reflect on the good Life has given you and sing praises of thanksgiving now and always.

Say with me: “I rejoice in my life just as it is. I live the life I love, and I grow in my love for life!” Namaste.

Good morning! Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "Feeling Grateful" - which will be the topic of this Sunday's Talk at ACSL.

Feeling grateful is this Sunday’s topic and that certainly describes me today! Life has given me so much to be grateful for and I expect more on the horizon. How about you? Do you stop to consider all the many ways you are blessed? We have the option and opportunity to think on these things or we can think on all the things that are wrong in our lives. I have been taught for years that what we focus on increases, and I find that so true. I would much rather feel grateful and happy than miserable and sad.

Having an attitude of gratitude starts with having an open, trusting heart – one that is centered in peace, potential and possibilities. Even though our bodies are finite, housed within them is an infinite Spirit that yearns to bring more of Its infinite nature through us. Life is an exploration into the unknown and within each of us is a pure, whole and holy Self willing and able to guide us through when we stop and ask for directions.

On November 26th I will call a halt to serving as a pulpit minister, just after my 74th birthday, which happens to be on Thanksgiving this year. I have been ever so grateful for these past 21 years and for writing this Thought for the Week for the past 20 of them! Yet at this time I feel the tug to move on to other areas of service and I am eager to find out just what that will be! I am willing to be led by Spirit with a joyous heart. How about you? Are you ready to bring forth something new in your life? Feeling and being grateful for Life just as it is, is a start. Just as the leaves are changing and falling, so too our lives will ebb and flow. When we are centered in a deep and abiding knowing we can never be abandoned or lost, a gentle peace passes through us.

Say with me: “I do feel blessed and grateful for so many things in my life. I focus on the good and more good comes to me. Thank you God. And so it is!

Good morning! Here's this week's Thought for the Week, which will be the subject of this coming Sunday's Talk at ACSL - "Held in Love":

There is nothing more uplifting than the feeling and experience of love. This innate energy feeds our very soul. When we know and accept we are loved no matter what, we shine with a beaming light that cannot be doused. As we approach Thanksgiving this year let’s focus on the realization that we are held in God’s loving embrace. Let us move forward in grace and confidence that we are in our right and perfect place to do good works. Let us remember to remember we are never alone, that there is a loving presence bringing us all we need.

There are times that require change and growth. There are times that challenge us to become more than we have previously been. To envision the warmth of Love’s guiding hand being there for us, brings accolades of joy from deep within. How happy it feels to praise and acknowledge the many blessings Life bestows upon us.

To quote an article from Good Business Magazine, November 1938:

“I am thankful for:

The life that pulsates in every cell and fiber of my being.

The intelligence that illumes each step of my daily path.

The faith that carries my vision past the immediate appearance.

The work that enables me to express my highest talents.

The joy that makes my heart dance.

The food that nourishes my body.

The rest that renews mind and body.

The beauty that is spread all about me.

The friends who hear and understand, who are loyal and true.”

These are the ways Love holds us in Its embrace and I am ever so grateful! Say with me: “I behold all the many ways I am held in Love’s embrace, and I am grateful.”

Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "Faith and Trust" - which will be the topic of the Sunday Talk at ACSL this week.

We are moving into the “Holiday Season” and what better way to do it than to emphasize our faith and trust. Yes, I know that might not be the first thing that comes to mind. Yet, before we head down the slippery slope of all the “doing”, how about we start with putting first things first by simply “being”. Connecting to our Higher Self first thing each day will ground and center us. When we really stop to acknowledge how truly blessed we are, how we’ve managed to go through all of life’s experiences and still be here, there comes a deep-seated knowing that all is well. Even when we may be in the midst of a dark night of the soul, God’s hand is leading and guiding us. We are eternally being cared for so why not sink into that awareness and be grateful?

I have a little plaque in my bathroom that says: “Divine right action is always taking place in my life. Only good comes from each experience.” That takes a lot of faith and trust to be able to speak and believe those two sentences. No one ever said life would be easy. I know first-hand there are things that come to us that we would rather not experience. Yet, I also know that within and around me is a Higher Power, a Divine Presence that is forever holding me in Its embrace. There’s not a spot where God is not. Yet, I must have eyes to see and ears to hear.

I can choose to put my faith and trust in right action, or I can put my faith and trust in appearances. Appearances and effects are transitory and as sure as night follows day they will change. Let me focus on what I wish to experience and let go of the rest.

Say with me: “I move into this holiday season established in the knowledge that my Higher Power, my God Self, is always directing me to my highest good. And for this I am grateful. And it is so.”

Greetings!

Here's this week's Thought for the Week, which will be the topic of this Sunday's Talk at ACSL - "Angels in Disguise"

As we continue with the theme this month of “Serving”, I’d like to look at all the “Angels in Disguise” we have among us. First of all, what is an angel in your opinion? Well to me most of the time they stay hidden from view, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there. What do they do? To me they are helpers, in other words they give tirelessly. They aren’t overbearing either. They are gentle, there’s nothing pushy about them. But that doesn't mean they are weak, on the contrary, they are amazingly strong, they are wise, they are resourceful, and they follow their guidance from within.

Now, saying all that can you think of any angels that you know? I sure can. First of all, they are the folks at my church who show up and give of their time, talent and treasure. They are the oh so many first responders; they are teachers, they work in the healthcare industry, they are custodians and the folks who drive school buses. In other words, they could be just about anybody that has a caring heart and doesn’t mind doing necessary work to make the world a better place.

Would you put yourself in that category? I dare say most of us initially would say no. Why? Because angels for the most part don’t like to boast or take credit for the slow and steady work they do. They aren’t fed by their egos for they are fed from the well spring of living waters deep within their souls. I challenge you this coming week to be on the lookout for the angels all around you and if you can, give them a pat on the back and let them know how grateful you are that they are in your life. Most especially take heed to their wisdom when shared and if the spirit moves you, emulate their kindness, strength, and fortitude. In that way you too will be an angel on earth.

Say with me: “I see angels all around me. I appreciate them and will do what I can do to be one as well.”

Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "As I Give" - which will be the topic of this Sunday's Talk at ACSL.

Life is about circulation – don’t you agree? When anything becomes stagnant, without movement, the dying process begins. This holds true not just in the physical realm but also in the various affairs of Life. The topic this Sunday is “As I Give”. Giving and receiving are circular flows. Life is reciprocal. As we give from our fullness, from our best intentions, we are rewarded. There’s an old saying, “What goes around comes around”, another is “Like attracts like.” What we put out into the ethers is like a boomerang. That’s why it’s important to notice and be aware of our intentions.

It's important to saturate yourself in being open to newness, in being open to infinite possibilities. Right now, as you sit here reading this message, do you have hankering to do something outside your comfort zone? If so, that could be the still small voice from within nudging you forward in Life. Perhaps it will take learning something new. Perhaps it will be contacting someone you haven’t yet met. Search your heart and soul to see where you can give of your talents and treasures. Get in the flow of Life with enthusiasm and gusto.

You’ve heard of “priming the pump”. In the late 1880’s this expression originally was used for pouring liquid into a pump to expel the air and make it work. Before you can receive, you must activate or give. This applies to many things in Life. But be aware that the attitude and demeanor in which you give is critical. I suggest you first and foremost become aware that the God presence is deep within you. That you live, move, and have your being in this substance of Love, Peace, Joy, and Abundance. Have utmost faith and confidence that you are exactly where you need to be always and live from quiet expectancy. Give what you have and more will be given.

Say with me: “I am attentive to the nudging of my heart and boldly go forth with great expectancy, giving what I have knowing more will be given. I am glad and I am grateful. And it is so.”

Good morning! Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "Being a Blessing" - which will be the topic of this coming Sunday's Talk at ACSL.

Being of service is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have. Serving from our hearts humbles us. And having humility brings about an air of gentleness, kindness, and meekness, which is right next to Godliness. Do you know or remember a time when helping someone in a time of need raised your spirits?

The truth of the matter is that there is One Life living through each of us. That’s why so many times we recognize ourselves in others. How many times have you looked at another person’s perhaps dire situation and said to yourself: “By the grace of God, there go I.” In other words, we could easily put ourselves in the other person’s shoes and are grateful to have been spared that difficulty. Those are the times when we can reach out to another with genuine care, concern, and help.

I was reading an article the Sun Newspaper printed a couple of weeks ago now about Mama’s Kitchen and how they are requesting volunteers to help with the various services they provide. That spoke to me and even though I already have a busy life, I’m going to contact them to hopefully be involved there in some way.

What has come to your attention where you could provide some help to another? Do it out of the kindness of your heart, never from “what’s in it for me”. In that way you are truly being a blessing both to another and yourself. In order to give, your container must be full. Give from your fullness – never deplete yourself for the sake of another. As they tell you on the airlines, put your oxygen mask on first before helping another. Be open this coming week to where you can serve and bring blessings through you.

Say with me: “I am blessed and am a blessing when I give from the fullness and goodness of my heart. May I serve with humility. And it is so.”

Good morning! Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "Treat and Move Your Feet" - which will be the topic of this coming Sunday's Talk at ACSL.

I’m not exactly sure why Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science, called our form of affirmative prayer “treatment’, but he did. Just like he called prayer partners “practitioners”. Treatment and practitioners sound more clinical and perhaps “scientific” which goes along with the name Religious Science. No matter the reason, we treat for ourselves or others from the standpoint of oneness or wholeness; from the recognition that God/Love is all there is and therefore each of us is God in expression. From that basic premise we proceed to speak our word or claim what it is we wish to experience. The fourth step in treatment is thanksgiving for knowing our word has been received by the Law and is right now established in Mind. The fifth and final step is to release or let go of any question or concern. To know and have absolute faith our good is now coming to us in right and perfect timing, and to also accept that it might come wrapped in a different package than what our finite mind may have conceived.

So, one of the expressions we use in Religious Science aka: New Thought, is to “treat and move your feet”. That means we recognize our wholesome desires enhance our lives and others lives. But we don’t just sit in a lotus position humming a chant waiting for our good to drop from the sky. We move. We ask for guidance. We listen to the promptings of our still small voice, our intuition, and then DO something toward that end. Holmes and others have said, “God can only do for us, what He/It can do through us.” We are the vehicle or avenue through which good works are realized. So, the next time you have a desire, and you know I’m talking about a desire which literally means “from the Father”, a wholesome desire, go within and recognize your oneness with the One. Speak your word in the affirmative present that this is now fulfilled in right and perfect order and timing. Give thanks it is done and release it. Finish with Amen, or And so it is, or And it is so!

Say with me: “I treat or pray knowing my word has power and I am divinely guided to do my part to fulfill the accomplishment of my desire. I am grateful, joyous, and free. And it is so!
