Greetings Church Family,

I pray this note finds you well.

Tomorrow is an incredibly important day for one of our own.

For approximately three years, Lada Akolzina has been part of the Alpharetta Seventh-day Adventist Church family. Many of you know her personally. You have worshiped beside her, served alongside her, laughed with her, and watched her faithfully invest herself in the life and ministry of our church.

As of today, Lada still remains detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. Tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., she is scheduled to appear before an immigration judge for a bond hearing that could determine whether she is able to come home while her immigration case continues.

Lada originally came to the United States seeking asylum after experiencing religious persecution and physical threats because of her Seventh-day Adventist faith. For those asking, she pursued protection through the established asylum process by filing Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, through the proper channels and within the permitted timeframe. The same faith that brought her here is the faith we have watched her live out among us.

She has served through our church’s food truck ministry, participated in outreach benefiting Denmark High School, become an important part of our Young Adult Ministry, faithfully supported the ministry of our church, and simply become someone we love.

Lada is not just a name on our membership roll. She is our sister. She is our friend. She is family.

Tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m., I am inviting our entire church family to join together on Microsoft Teams for a special time of prayer for Lada (Join here: https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/265474533333664?p=qnfVTA6XimbBrIV9X0). We will specifically pray for God’s presence with her, wisdom and compassion for the judge, strength for those representing her, and—if it is God’s will—that the door will be opened for her release. 🙏

I am also asking our church family to help us prepare financially for her bond. Immigration bonds can be significant, and if bond is granted, we want to be ready to respond immediately.

We are going to pray.

We are going to stand beside one of our own.

Greetings, Church Family,

I pray you are doing well!

We are looking forward to a wonderful weekend together. This Sabbath is our **“Bring a Girlfriend to Church” Sabbath**—and gentlemen, that means your wife brings a girlfriend, not you! 😊

Immediately following the worship service, Mrs. Cheny and her “team” will host a special **Friendship & Fellowship Feast** for our church family. And by “team,” we mean all of us!

How can you help? I’m glad you asked.

We never want anyone to miss the fellowship because there is not enough to go around. So, for those who are able, we are asking each family to sign up to bring one dish from the list at the link below. When everyone contributes a little, there will be more than enough for everyone.
