What one person does with passion can change everything.
In Las Lomas, that person is Bilma.
Bilma Guadalupe Escobedo Cano is a mother of three, a community leader, and the kind of person who quietly changes the future of the people around her.
For years, she’s been showing up. In her church. In her community. In her home. Through savings groups, business training, and Foundations for Farming, Bilma began building small but sustainable income for her family through raising chickens and selling eggs.
But she didn’t stop there.
She took what she learned and started pouring it into others.
Encouraging people.
Teaching people.
Helping people believe they are capable of building something too.
And then she saw another need.
In Guatemala, many children only attend school for half a day because there simply aren’t enough teachers. That leaves a huge gap for kids academically, relationally, and emotionally.
So Bilma stepped in.
Through 410 Bridge’s tutoring program, she now helps children learn, grow, and believe they have a future.
And when she realized many kids were showing up hungry, she started a small meal program too.
Now these children don’t just receive tutoring.
They receive care.
They receive nourishment.
They are known.
This is what real transformation looks like.
Not outsiders bringing temporary solutions.
But local leaders rising up from within their own communities and creating lasting change.
When you invest in people, trust local leaders, and walk alongside them, impact doesn’t just happen.
It multiplies.
Because of Bilma, children in Las Lomas are stepping into a different future.
And that kind of impact lasts.
