In this Christmas season, we often focus on giving - but we want our children (and ourselves!) to become gracious receivers too, don’t we?

How do YOU model asking for help to your kiddos?

This was a tricky one for our ever-generous mentor mom panel, but some key advice they offered was:
• Put yourself in places / surround yourself with communities of people that are safe and loving
• Tell someone safe where you truly are at (what your mental/spiritual/physical needs may be) so they can be equipped to offer help
• Get comfortable with saying those words (“I need help”). You can’t expect someone to know you are in need of help if you don’t ask for it!
• Practice accepting help - it may be easier if you start by saying yes to help you don’t really “need” - let people in and let others be part of your village!
• Don’t rebuke the blessing - if someone offers help you need, be willing and gracious to accept it as often as possible.

It’s ! This is our monthly series where we share a sneak peek into the wisdom and experience we get to enjoy from our Mentor Moms each meeting. Today’s question was:

“How do you ask for help?”

🤔 If YOU were asked this question, how would you answer? Do you have a “mentor mom” in your life - someone you look up to or whose kids are a bit older than yours? Share and ask her what she thinks! Let us know your answers in the comments below & give your fellow mommas some fresh ideas. 🤍

It won’t always be like this.

There won’t always be midnight wake ups.

There won’t always be bedtime story time and smiles behind crib bars.

There won’t always be blankets pinned over our windows to black out the rooms.

There won’t always be countless footie pajamas to wash.

There won’t always be school drop-off lines and PTA meetings.

There won’t always be crumbs spilling out from car seats and all over your car.

There won’t always be sound machines humming white noise into the dark every night.

There won’t always be stains in the bathtub from blue Dino bath bombs.

There won’t always be nap times to juggle, boo boos to kiss, or Magna-tiles in every crevice of our home.

It won’t always be like this. And that’s both a mantra of encouragement and heartbreak that can snap us back to being present here, soaking in these ordinary days that won’t be here for long.

Do you ever feel like your pilot light has gone out?

Like the spark that once fueled your passion, clarity, and energy has been dimmed under the mental load of motherhood?

Perhaps it's the need to make a million decisions a day (so many decisions!) that causes you to never really feel confident you're doing it right.

Maybe you are in a season where you feel you are not showing up well for yourself or others; just going through the motions, trying to get to the end of the week.

That is about to change because we're declaring this the year of new things.

A new season needs a new strategy, and we choose wild, contagious hope.

Hope is not a passive exercise in wishing; it's an active approach to living life engaged. Hope is generative.

In Proverbs 13:12 we read, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life." Hope provides clarity, vision and vitality.

Looking at the adversity and division that seems to be seeping into the fabric of our culture, hope offers another option - the opportunity to see new paths and ways of living that we might not have considered before. It reminds us that we can make a positive difference in our families and communities and that tough times will not paralyze us.

Hope requires courage and trust because to see the new thing God is doing likely means going into the wild - paths that take us through uncomfortable places and challenges that nourish our deepest longing.

God is doing something new, and we can get our hopes up.

It's time for Wild Hope.
