Why Microchurch?

Because it is countercultural.

Our culture is consumed by consumption, and it is very easy for our lives and churches to become entranced by the allure of bigger, better, and more instead of learning to walk the path of self-sacrificial love modeled by our Crucified Savior.

Why Microchurch?

Because every thing belongs.

Every one and every thing is profoundly, radically, and universally loved and accepted by God, and our existence is inescapably wrapped up in the Divine Flow of Love between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is impossible to be excluded from this reality, so we don't.

Because "me and my Bible" aren't enough.

We celebrate the uniqueness in every person and greatly value what is accomplished in the quiet places when we are alone with God, but the Christian faith only works in the context of a community devoted to one another. It cannot be done alone.

Because we desire a deep and transformative faith.

We want you to develop a healing relationship with God that affects every single aspect of your life (yes, even that part), and a faith like that just isn't possible when we wear it like a fashion accessory instead of a *way of life.* To be Christian is to take Jesus seriously.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Diamond Hills (Alma Unit) has been faithfully serving our community for just shy of twenty years, and we want to help them with the new furniture they need to continue serving our children well.

We've matched about $3,400 so far.

Jonathan Martin is coming THIS Sunday!

The road starts right here next week, y’all! I hope you can join me on June 7th at 6:30pm at my favorite local bookstore, , for the release/launch party of The Road Away from God: How Love Finds Us Even as We Walk Away! It will be my first public reading from the book, with Q & A and a book signing. It’s the only public event on release day, and the first bookstore appearance for tour. The road may be long, but we don’t have to walk it alone. I hope this intimate evening of stories and friends, can make us all feel a little less lonely—even though many of us have been on lonely roads!

Looks like you’ll be able to grab a pre-release copy of Jonathan Martin’s latest book at the service on June 5th!

Well…The Road Away from God: How Love Finds Us Even as We Walk Away isn’t released until June 7th—but my publisher got some earlier than expected! I’ve got to tell y’all, opening up the first one from the first box landed differently emotionally than I could have imagined😭

The waves of gratitude for all the things underneath the thing—everything that this book represents for me and the people around me. I posted a silly little video when I got a couple of advanced review copies…but these feel much more substantial, more real, more beautiful. This third project is my resurrection book, in more ways than one. I’m terribly grateful for the journey to get here, in all of the peril and terror that coming into new life actually is. I feel the life coming from it, because it is the life that has been sustained by my friends, my family, my beautiful community at The Table, the people who have been courageous to let me glimpse something of what it meant to take the leap into life on the other side, while it was still happening to them…while they still had no idea what it would mean. In so many ways, as I think you’ll see, this book is a tribute to the voices that have saved/are saving me.

This also means that while the book isn’t out in the world until June 7th, I’ll have a limited number on me in the places I’m going between now and then 😊 This Sunday 5.15 at 10am, I’m so thrilled to be back with my dear friends Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, MO with Brian Zahnd & Peri Zahnd! 5.22, back in my favorite city in the world, New Orleans, with another community I have come to deeply love over the last few years, Vineyard Church of New Orleans, at 9:30 & 11:15am! And on 6.5, my very first time in Alma, AR, at Grace Church at 10:30am! Come on out and say hello—I’ll try to save a copy for ya :)
