Message from Sister Linda Abold for April 26th, 2020:
God is still on his throne. It may not seem like it to us when we see all the problems around, but he is in control. Second Corinthians 4 says, "Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart." Remember that it is God's mercy that strengthens us. Paul went on to say, "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
We may feel perplexed but we do not need to be in despair. No matter what happens to us or around us, God has not abandoned us. Even if we are struck down by the virus or any other illness or calamity, we are not destroyed. If we place our lives in God's hands he will take care of us. Charles Naylor was one of the early hymn writers in the Church of God. He had been injured in an accident and was bed-ridden for many years. Yet he wrote many songs expressing the comfort and hope in God's presence. One of his songs says,
"Whether I live or die, whether I wake or sleep, whether upon the land, or on the stormy deep; when tis serene and calm or when the wild winds blow, I shall not be afraid- I am the Lord's I know."
The last verse, based on Romans Chapter 8 says, "Nothing shall separate from his unbounded love, neither in depths below nor in the heights above; and in the years to come He will abide with me; I am the Lord's I know, for all eternity. Keep this thought in mind. If you belong to the Lord, He will take care of you.
