Greetings and blessings - St. Paul’s Anglican Church has an exciting weekend planned. Saturday is our Community Breakfast where we honor our First Responders and Veterans along with their spouses. The breakfast begins at 9:00 am in our parish hall. We do look forward to seeing you and honor those who have and do serve! Secondly, this Sunday at 4:00 pm in our parish hall we will offer for the first time ever an hour of Praise and Prayer. What a wonderful way to end one week and begin another. This will be a time of fellowship, music and open prayer. Light snacks and drinks will be offered. Bring a friend with and enjoy the hour. Don’t forget we have a 8:00 am Mass and a 9:00 am Mass. In Psalm 147 we read, “O praise the Lord, for it is a good thing to sing praises unto to God: yea, a joyful and pleasant thing it is to be thankful. O sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving…” On Thanksgiving day many of us will be joined together by family and friends. We will talk, laugh and tell stories of memories of the past. We will sit around a table for a feast worthy of a king. Some will bow their heads in prayer in honor of our Father in heaven for the bountiful gifts they are about to receive. From the Prophet Joel in chapter 2 we read “of a call to gather a sacred assembly; gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes…” A reminder to all the faithful to come together. Rejoice in the Lord, seek repentance, await the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to give all the thanks and glory to our Father in heaven. When we do that we will be fed in Spirit and truth. Not just for a day but for an eternity. When we share this with those we love and gather with our Lord says, “He will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.” What an opportunity we have on Thanksgiving to take time to witness and share the glory and love of our Father and heaven and His Son. In St. James epistle chapter 1 he reminds us of “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” That we should resemble the first fruits of His creation. Thanksgiving becomes much more than a feast. The day becomes an opportunity to feed the hungry in Spirit and comfort those who need comforting. To bring hope for tomorrow and lead those who have been lost. May we all this day “Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving and praise His holy Name”. AMEN May your Thanksgiving be filled with God’s blessings!
