Confessions Sat 3:15 - 4:00 PM/ Mon 6:15PM We seek to demonstrate Christian hospitality at all times.

Welcome to Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Allentown, Pennsylvania. All are welcome at Saint Francis, wherever one may be on their faith journey: a practicing Catholic, a seeker for truth with no church affiliation, a Christian of another denomination investigating Catholicism, or someone who has been away from the Church or from our Parish for whatever reason and now wants to ret

urn. Our parish is a welcoming one, and we truly want every one to feel at home here.We seek to proclaim the Word of God faithfully. We seek to celebrate our communal prayer and worship, in particular the Eucharist, reverentially and joyfully. We seek to envelop our love for Christ in works of charity, in service to the poor and needy and to each other. We seek to mark our faith for our children and ourselves with study and action. We seek to offer our gifts of time, talent and treasure at the Altar of the Lord. And above all, we seek to live the Greatest Commandments: first to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind; and secondly, to love our neighbors as ourselves.

When you come to church this weekend, it will be even shinier and more majestic thanks to our St. Martha's Ministry. They worked so hard on Sat morning giving praise and glory to the Lord as they cleaned, tidied and shined. It was GORGEOUS at 430 pm Mass. We welcome all on our clean up mornings and thank all of our helpers from the bottom of our hearts for their efforts. It is appreciated!

Every year, on the third Saturday after Pentecost, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As the liturgical calendar moves out of the Easter season and into Ordinary Time, we are invited to ask the Blessed Mother for her intercession and join her in pondering the mysteries of the Incarnation.

St. Augustine said, “Mary conceived Christ in her heart before she conceived him in her womb.” In other words, Mary welcomed Christ into her inmost being with complete and perfect faith.

The roots of devotion to Mary’s heart are found in the Bible. It should be noted that in both the Old and New Testaments “the heart” does not refer primarily to the physical functions of blood circulation. Ancient Jewish and Greek culture viewed the heart as the inmost self, the place of thought, meditation, imagination, and emotion.

The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary provides several practical lessons for Catholics:

Pray without Ceasing – Mary’s first response to adversity is prayer. She contemplates how God is working in her life instead of seeking to control the situation or run away from it.

Radical Faith – Out of Mary’s rich inner life, comes a complete trust in the will of God. Mary shows how faith strengthens us through the hardest of times.

Suffering with Others – St. Paul tells us to “Rejoice with those who are rejoicing; weep with those who are weeping” (Romans 12:15). Sometimes the best way we can help others who are suffering is to open our hearts to listen to them and share in their suffering, just as Mary opened her heart to the suffering of her Son on the Cross.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, refuge of sinners, I beg of you by the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and by the graces God has granted to you since your Immaculate Conception, the grace of never going astray again. Mother, keep me, a sinner, constantly bathed in the light of your Immaculate Heart. Amen.

FIRST FRIDAYS -

Final perseverance in the Catholic faith

Observance

On these days, a person is to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist with the intention of honoring the Sacred Heart and making reparation for sins. The nine First Fridays must be consecutive. If the need arises, in order to receive communion in a state of grace, a person should also make use of the sacrament of penance before attending Mass.

On June 11, 2026, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, marking the first formal national consecration to Christ’s heart.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus symbolizes Christ’s boundless love, mercy, and compassion for humanity, inspiring devotion, prayer, and acts of reparation.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has roots in the 11th and 12th centuries, but it became widely recognized through the visions of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun, between 1673 and 1675 at the Visitation Convent in Paray-le-Monial, France. In these visions, Jesus revealed His heart as a symbol of His immense love for humanity and requested that people honor it through prayer, devotion, and acts of reparation

MORNING OFFERING
"O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sins, the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of Your Bishops and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for our Holy Father this month. Amen."
