Manages day to day operations at Greenwood Cemetery including:
The position is designed to be an asset to the Maintenance Supervisor
Preparing grave sites for burials
Positioning casket-lowering device on grave, covering with artificial grass carpet, setting up tent and chairs for burials services
Locating grave sites according to section, lot and grave numbers
Mixing and pouring concrete to construct foundations for monuments
Assists with the placement of grave markers
Provides customer service to funeral directors and cemetery visitors by locating grave sites
Maintain an inventory of cemetery equipment
Other responsibilities as assigned
Other duties:
Must be willing to be trained at operating the crematory
Operates cremation equipment and any related accessories to process cremains
Maintains thorough record keeping of all cremations
Packages remains to be returned to funeral directors
Maintains proper cleanliness of crematorium
Seasonal Responsibilities:
Maintain landscaping of the grounds including cuttings grass, maintaining lawn, trimming around trees, walkways and memorial markers, laying sod and removal of leaves and debris from grave-sites
Winter care-taking duties include assisting with snow removal using shovel and snow blower
Minimum Qualifications:
High school education is desirable
Valid driver's license
Relevant experience/training
Basic knowledge and skills related to maintenance
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, walking, ect. as job may require
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Ability to operate hand tools, small machines/equipment
Work Environment:
40 hours a week
$13 per hour to start
Full time seasonal could lead to permanent position
May work evenings and weekends to accommodate funeral schedules and cemetery needs
