What is true revival?

It isn't simply a series of scheduled church meetings or a successful evangelistic campaign. Genuine revival is a work of God—a spiritual awakening marked by an unmistakable sense of His presence, conviction of sin, repentance, renewed hunger for spiritual things, and ordinary believers moved to pray, witness, and serve.

In today’s message, Pastor Jim Rivera explores biblical and historical examples of revival and the marks that distinguish a genuine move of God. From Habakkuk’s cry for God to renew His works, to Pentecost and other biblical awakenings, we are reminded that revival cannot be manufactured by a program or human strategy.

Revival is a broad work.
Revival is an evident work.
Revival is a work of mercy.
Revival is solely a work of God.

Our responsibility is to pray, surrender, and prepare our hearts.

I’d like to take a special moment this evening to invite you to tomorrow’s service at City Limits Assembly of God at 10:30 AM.
The Lord has placed a very heavy message on my heart—one that will encourage your soul and help you clearly understand the purpose of the blood of Jesus Christ and His finished work for you and me. In this hour of history, when Christianity is under such heavy attack, it is more important than ever that we truly understand our faith.
It is my sincere desire to allow the Holy Spirit to move freely in our service and let this message touch every soul.

My heart is heavy tonight.
I’m asking my church family and friends to please pray for the family of my very good friend, Pastor Robert McSurdy. Rob was 82. He served as a counselor and advisor at the Teen Challenge Training Center, and he was one of the most wonderful, big-hearted men I’ve ever known. He carried a huge love for the Lord and was always there to encourage and strengthen those who were weak and feeling defeated.
I’ve often heard people say, “Never meet your heroes… they’ll only disappoint you.” In some cases that has been true in my life. But with Rob, it was just the opposite. He was a powerful influence on me and a living example of what a godly man looks like. He was never afraid to tell you the truth, yet he always did it with that kind, deep, gentle voice of his.
My pain tonight is especially for the family who is now missing their father, grandfather, husband, and friend. Please keep the McSurdy family in your prayers.
