Many times when families return to see their new home, emotions are high. There are usually big smiles and squealing mixed in with a lot of excitement and laughter. Others walk through slowly, taking it all in, and of course, sometimes becoming overwhelmed in the moment with tears. This weekend, we met a vivacious mother of 2 young children who experienced all of these emotions, and more. Even before she walked in the door, she took time to hug each volunteer and told them how deeply appreciative she is of this gift. She shared that she has fought for many years in court for herself and her children in order to protect them and to give them an opportunity for a better life. She was so overwhelmed by all of the furniture, household necessities, beautiful decor, and toys that were given to her family by essentially a group of strangers. She continued to send our team texts thanking us time and time again for all of the goodness that has been bestowed upon her. What may seem like a small token is sometimes life-changing for someone else. Thank you to this community for continuing to show up for others in their time of need.

This note from our most recent client says it all: “Just want to say thank y’all again so much for everything. We love everything. We are so grateful and appreciative for everything y’all did to make us feel at home. It's been years for me and this is the first time in my children's lives where they are fully comfortable and feel right at home. I can't ever truly show my full gratitude, but just know it's there and y'all please never stop what y'all do because there are so many of us out here who feel defeated and this brings light and joy in those people's lives. Again I appreciate every single one of you and your volunteers! Y'all are doing absolutely amazing, incredible, inspiring, a blessing and so much more! Hope you have an amazing day! Stay safe and stay blessed!!! Thank you!! My home is a home now!!!!”

This past weekend, we met a young mother of two girls. Like most parents, she wants the best for them. Each day, she rides 2 buses to get her girls to school. Every afternoon, she does the same thing to pick them up. She spends the few hours she has left searching for a job, applying for transportation for her daughter, who has special needs, and doing all of the “typical” things of running a household. It’s a lot, but this mom does everything with a smile and with gratitude because she remembers when her days were not so happy.

When she walked into her apartment, her smile quickly turned to tears. She was overwhelmed by the transformation. It’s pretty amazing what you can do when people come together to bless someone else. It’s also amazing how you can give someone their dignity back by hanging a beautiful picture on the wall or giving them a new comforter for their bed. We are so excited to celebrate our 600th family, but there are a lot more people out there who need our help. Join us!

This past weekend, New Hope hit another impressive milestone….WE DELIVERED TO OUR 600TH FAMILY! This isn’t just a number — it's 600 stories of hope and healing. It's 600 families who trusted us, opened their doors, and allowed us to be a small part of their journey.

None of this would be possible without this incredible community. From the volunteers who give their time, to the donors who give their resources, to the neighbors who spread the word — YOU are the reason we're here. Your generosity, your compassion, and your unwavering support have been the backbone of everything we do.

We are so deeply thankful for each and every one of you. This ministry belongs to this community, and together, we are making a difference.

Saturday brought a whole lot of rain to Texas, but it also brought joy and a new beginning to a young mom and her 4-year-old daughter. The shouts and squeals were so genuine and true that they brought sunshine to our volunteers. Mom couldn’t believe all that had been done in just a few hours, and she stated, “You don’t know how much you miss furniture until you don’t have it.” She had initially shared that her daughter dreamed of a mermaid room, and the little girl’s sweet reaction told us that we had made that dream come true. They were both so pleased with their colorful and creative new home, and hugs were shared as we departed. Thank you, New Hope family, for your generosity that brings light to each and every one of our families.

Our team of people with servant hearts delivered furniture and household items to a single woman this past weekend. Our client shared with us during the preliminary visit that when she left her home, she only had the clothes on her back. She also shared that she believes God has surrounded her with people who can help her transition to a place where she can be happy again. It was our pleasure to provide her with her needs as well as her wants. She likes blues and greens, and we accommodated those wishes. She also received items that she specifically requested, like a food processor and empty spice jars. And since she likes plants and flowers, we made that happen too. Due to her work schedule, we didn't see her reaction, but she later texted, "I am so so sooooooo happy!" Thank you to the front-line volunteers, the behind-the-scenes volunteers, donors of financial support, and donors of furniture and household items.

April is National Volunteer Recognition Month. We are incredibly grateful for the heart, time, and energy our amazing volunteers pour into everything we do.
Their dedication to create safe spaces and restore hope reminds survivors they are not alone. The work they do is powerful, often unseen, and always deeply impactful. From the individuals who repair tv’s and paint furniture to others who show up on a Saturday morning to fully transform a home. We are so thankful for every donation that comes through our doors.

Thank you for caring deeply and for making a difference where it matters most. We simply couldn’t do this without you!

While serving our clients, New Hope sees many reactions. This week, we didn’t get to see the actual client's reaction to the newly furnished space, but we could all imagine the relief she must have felt after a very difficult day. When we arrived for setup, we were told that the client was in the hospital with her 2-year-old, who was very sick, but she had a friend be sure to greet us at the apartment since she didn’t want to miss this wonderful gift she felt she had been given. We know that when she arrived home with her toddler and her teenager, she was greeted with a space that looked and felt very different from the empty walls and air mattresses on the floor that she left. We tried to create spaces with soft items and lots of storage for her normally very active little one, but we wanted to give mom a beautiful and calming space as well. Each of our deliveries is drastically different, but what remains the same are the amazing volunteers and wonderful donors such as yourself that allow us to make this kind of impact in the community. This week, New Hope tackled a different kind of project for one of our partner agencies that helps victims of domestic abuse. The agency had been gifted a house to be used as transitional housing for families going through their program and asked New Hope to furnish it and help make it feel like a home. Our volunteers worked tirelessly to furnish and decorate peaceful bedrooms, welcoming living spaces, an inviting dining room, and even a tranquil backyard sitting area to create a safe home for the families who will live there. We are so honored to be a part of the recovery journey for victims of domestic abuse as they rebuild their lives, and we are so grateful for the generous service of our incredible volunteers who make transformations like this possible.
