"I have been crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me." Galatians 2:20

Today, get up and face life with courage because, as a child of God, you do not have depend on your own strength and wisdom. Trust God.

"In God you come up against something which is in every respect immeasurably superior to yourself. Unless you know God as that- and therefore, know yourself as nothing in comparison - you do not know God at all. As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you." C.S Lewis

The trees of the LORD have their fill, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted, — Psalm 104:16
Bible League: Living His Word
But though they thunder like breakers on a beach, God will silence them, and they will run away. They will flee like chaff scattered by the wind, like a tumbleweed whirling before a storm.
— Isaiah 17:13 NLT

Just like the times Isaiah prophesied about, the peoples of the earth are thundering and roaring. "Listen! The armies of many nations roar like the roaring of the sea. Hear the thunder of the mighty forces as they rush forward like thundering waves" (Isaiah 17:12). They are proud, boastful, and blustery people that want their own way. Although they are willing to fight for what they want, they first try to intimidate everyone in their path, including the people of God. They would like nothing better than to get us to run before they even get here.

The message of our verse for today, however, is that we shouldn't let them intimidate us. The Lord will silence them. Indeed, "They will flee like chaff scattered by the wind, like a tumbleweed whirling in a storm." Instead of running from them, we should look to the Lord and stand firm on the promises He has made to help us and protect us. Instead of fearing them, we should trust the Lord.

Maybe things will look bad at first. Maybe the thundering and roaring will be almost too much to bear. But we should stand firm in faith anyway. In the morning, things will be different. In the morning, we will go out and find our enemies are gone (Isaiah 17:14). In the night, the Lord will go to battle for us and give them the fitting end they deserve.

Let's not let the terror of the threat stampede us before the enemies even get here. Let's not forfeit the battle before it has even begun. Things will look different in the morning

"There is no proof of ignorance more common than conceit of knowledge. Much may be known, when nothing is known to good purpose. And those who think they know any thing, and grow vain thereon, are the least likely to make good use of their knowledge." Matthew Henry's commentary on 1 Corinthians 8:1-3

Prayer warriors, please be in prayer for the families that are grieving over the loss of 4 young men whose lives were taken by a car crash earlier this morning. Both the Gordon community as well as the Allen community are suffering great loss this morning. " Lord, teach me to number my days that I may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12

There should be consistency between what we have become in Christ and what we actually do in life.

I do not share this out of panic, but rather firm conviction that now, perhaps more than ever in the history of mankind, is the time to turn to Jesus Christ for salvation. The signs are all around us. If, through all that is going on, your need to be right with the Creator has been on your mind, be assured that it is not on your own that you have come to that conclusion. The Holy Spirit of God is calling you out, and the choice is yours to respond. You cannot call on a Holy God and plead for forgiveness and continue to live in a life of sin.

The Apostle Paul was approached by a jailer who wanted to take his own life after the prison doors that he was guarding flew open and the chains on the prisoners feet were loosened. Out of fear and trembling, he asked Paul "what must I do to be saved?" This came after he and the prisoners heard Paul and Silas praising the Lord. Paul responded by saying, ' Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved - you and your household."

There is only one way back to the Father and that is through His beloved Son Jesus Christ. That is not just the opinion of this preacher, but it is the very word, the very breath of God, that teaches us this. John 14:6 says, " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I often wonder, if Jesus is of no significance, if all that we read of him is just a myth, a big lie, then why do people make such a big deal out of those who choose to pray to him? His name is not allowed to be spoken in so many places. Those who call on him are labeled religious fanatics. His name has been removed from our schools, and other public places. Why? It is because there is power in his name. "Therefore God exalted him (Jesus) to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11.

No one is forced to believe this. It is a choice, a free will choice, to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. If there is no heaven or hell, if God did not send Jesus to the earth to die for the sins of the world and offer salvation to those would believe, and if it is not true that the only way back to the Father is through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, then those who don't believe have nothing to lose. However, if it is true that there is a heaven and a hell, and if God did send Jesus to die for the sins of mankind, and if where we spend eternity depends on whether we believe this by faith or not, then those who do not believe stand to lose everything.

"Choose this day who you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15.
