Today, over 230 Sisters serve in the United States, Jamaica, Brazil and Bolivia. They minister to those in need, especially the underprivileged, the undernourished, the outcasts, and the victims of injustice and violence. As a Congregation, they continue to respond to the overwhelming needs of our brothers and sisters through education, health care, pastoral and social ministries. ELIZABETH MISSION SOCIETY
In 1947 the St. Elizabeth Mission Society was founded as new form of mission activity for thousands of its benefactors who would aid the Sisters in the coming years. It continues to remain faithful to its missionary goal today. OUR MISSIONARY GOAL
The Mission Society’s founder, Rev. Mother Jean Marie Greeley, sought to bring the mission work of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany closer to the American people and provide permanent financial support to the ministries of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany. In partnership with its members and benefactors, the Mission Society is committed to supporting a life of service, making Christ present in the world, and responding to human needs. Each year, the Mission Society provides over $150,000 in grant funding and ongoing support to programs where the Franciscan Sisters are actively ministering to those who are poor in Jamaica, Brazil, Bolivia and the United States. WHO WE ARE
Our Franciscan Sisters and Mission Society family strive to live in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi by attempting to imitate Christ in His humanity. As we let God’s love shine through our everyday lives, we honor our Franciscan heritage, our American roots, and the influence of the early Sisters of our Congregation. HOW YOU CAN HELP
