Some of the biggest tests in the Bible came late.

Abraham was an old man when God asked him to lay Isaac on the altar. Moses was decades into obscurity before the burning bush. God was preparing them for something fruitful, and the preparation took a lifetime.

So don't assume the smooth stretch you're in means the testing is over. It's not about your past record — it's about your future. Whether you're 15 or 85, God may be readying you for something ahead. There's a lot at stake, and it doesn't matter how old you are.

Looking back, how has God used a hard season to prepare you for what came next?

Should I pull my kids from public school? Pastor Mike: it depends. If it's not disastrous, they can make it — with real discipleship before and after school.

Vengeance feels good. That's why you can eat popcorn and watch the bad guy get it at the end of the movie and walk out with a spring in your step. The desire to see justice done is a biblical virtue — the bad guy should lose, the good guy should be vindicated.

So here's the hard part of forgiveness: the thing you have to lay down is a godly desire.
But vengeance was never handed to you. "Vengeance is mine," says the Lord. When someone repents, you're called to something harder than payback — to reaffirm your love. If you can't do that, you haven't really forgiven them yet.

New Christian, first Sunday. The lobby's buzzing, people greeting each other, kids and Bibles everywhere. You feel like you've walked into a new family. It's almost euphoric.

Then the guy in the back row leans over: "Just give it time."

And he's not wrong. We're forgiven, but we're not yet perfected. Given enough time, you'll have problems with people you thought should be your spiritual family. The question isn't whether conflict comes. It's what you do with it — deal with it one relationship at a time, or let it fester into a split.

You should long for Scripture the way a newborn longs for milk — desperate, instinctive, unable to be satisfied without it.
