Thirty years after serving my mission in Paraguay, I had the unexpected blessing of returning.

When my dear friend Perry—who also served his mission in Paraguay—invited me to join this HXP trip, I hesitated. I even told him I’d only go if another mom didn’t sign up. But the Lord had other plans.

What I thought would simply be a chance to revisit a place that forever changed my life became something so much greater.

Nineteen incredible youth welcomed me as “Mama Coco” and filled my heart with more love than I could have imagined. We shared heartfelt conversations about the gospel, the temple, dating, and faith. We laughed, cried, hugged goodnight, and watched the Spirit work in powerful ways.

One of the sweetest gifts was walking the streets of Paraguay again with the missionaries and our youth, sharing the gospel in people’s homes. For a few precious days, I felt the joy of missionary work all over again.

Paraguay is where I first came to truly know Jesus Christ. Returning reminded me that the Spirit never forgets. The same peace, joy, and love I felt 30 years ago met me again—and this time, I watched a new generation feel it too.

I came home with a heart full of gratitude, a stronger testimony, and a renewed witness that when we say yes to the Lord, He gives us far more than we ever expected. ❤️

I recently finished serving for 18 months in the Colorado, Denver South Mission.

Words can’t accurately describe what my mission means to me, but it certainly was a holy time. I came to know my Savior personally as I learned to live the doctrine of Christ, and invited others to do the same.

Serving a mission pushed me to do everything I was scared to do, from talking to strangers all day, everyday, to testifying boldly of Jesus Christ. What I learned was that all I could give was faith and a willingness to change, and God will magnify my effort. To me it was an attitude of “Nevertheless, I went forth.” (1 Nephi 4:7) I was scared and did it anyway, that’s faith! Sometimes that was all I could do, and that is enough.

God has not left you alone, and He will not leave you alone.

"I have found joy in connecting with fellow Saints through the shared language of sacred music. And especially through the simple songs of Primary, the Holy Spirit has transcended language barriers and filled my heart with His whispering. In children’s voices, the love of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, has been proclaimed in clear, piercing truth."
Sister Tracy Y. Browning - October 2025 General Conference

"Because Jesus Christ knows all about best days and worst days: suffering so great that an angel was sent to strengthen Him, the betrayal of a good friend, the cross on Calvary. But His story also has a garden, a stone rolled away, and an empty tomb. Because of Him, no matter how bad things are right now, your best days are ahead."
Sister President Emily Belle Freeman - General Conference April 2026
