🕰️ TIME 4 CHURCH! — STAND UP, GET READY & GO!
There is something powerful about coming to CHURCH with fellow believers.
Yes, you can pray at home. You can worship GOD in your bedroom, in your car, while walking, cooking or going about your day. GOD is everywhere, and our personal relationship with HIM matters deeply.
But CHURCH is different.
There is something about believers gathering together in one place, with one heart, lifting up the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” — Matthew 18:20
When we gather in CHURCH, we don’t simply attend a meeting. We enter into fellowship, corporate worship, prayer, teaching, encouragement and spiritual community.
There is strength in gathering together
Sometimes you arrive at CHURCH tired, discouraged or carrying something nobody else knows about.
Then worship begins.
Someone prays.
The WORD OF GOD is preached.
A brother or sister encourages you.
And somehow, you leave stronger than you arrived.
That is one of the beautiful things about the Body of CHRIST. We were never designed to walk this journey alone.
“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…” — Hebrews 10:24–25
Our children need CHURCH too
Parents, bringing our children to CHURCH is about far more than occupying their Sunday morning.
We are establishing a pattern.
We are teaching them:
GOD comes first.
Worship matters.
Prayer matters.
The WORD OF GOD matters.
Serving matters.
Fellowship with other believers matters.
Our children need to see us worship.
They need to hear us pray.
They need to watch us serve.
They need relationships with other GODLY children, teenagers, young adults and mature believers who reinforce the values we are teaching at home.
And as they grow, we should move them beyond simply attending CHURCH.
ATTENDING → PARTICIPATING → SERVING → LEADING → OWNING THEIR FAITH.
Let them sing.
Let them pray.
Let them read Scripture.
Let them welcome people.
Let them serve.
Let them use their gifts.
Let them discover that CHURCH isn’t merely somewhere their parents take them — they are part of the Body of CHRIST.
Don’t allow convenience to replace conviction
There will always be reasons to stay home.
We’re tired.
The children are tired.
It’s raining.
It’s been a busy week.
We can watch online.
We’ll go next week.
Online services can be an incredible blessing, particularly when circumstances genuinely prevent us from gathering. But when we are able to gather physically, we should not underestimate the blessing of being present among GOD’S people.
Our children are watching what we consistently prioritise.
If we want them to value the HOUSE OF GOD tomorrow, we must demonstrate its importance today.
So this morning…
🕰️ TIME 4 CHURCH!
STAND UP.
GET READY.
GET THE CHILDREN READY.
AND GO!
Go and worship.
Go and fellowship.
Go and hear the WORD.
Go and serve.
Go and encourage somebody.
Go and allow somebody to encourage you.
Take your children with you and help them build memories of worship, fellowship, service and the PRESENCE OF GOD.
“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD.’” — Psalm 122:1
May our homes be homes of prayer.
May our children love the PRESENCE OF GOD.
May they grow from children who are taken to CHURCH into young people who choose GOD for themselves, serve HIM wholeheartedly and boldly represent JESUS CHRIST wherever they go.
And may our families continually declare:
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15
