Sometimes life is just… a lot.

And when someone we love is hurting, we may wonder:
What can I possibly do?

Paul gives us a beautiful answer: “You are helping us by praying for us.”

Prayer isn’t about saying the perfect words—or getting enough people to pray before God finally acts.

Prayer opens us to see how God is already at work.

And sometimes, the way God brings His care, comfort, and healing is through His people.

You were never meant to do life alone.

Who is someone you could pray for today?

Yesterday, in the midst of worship, we marked a meaningful moment in the life of Light of Christ as we installed Pastor Eric Johnson as our Senior Pastor Elect.

In the presence of our congregation, Pastor Eric made a series of sacred commitments—to faithfully preach and teach God’s Word, to serve and care for God’s people, to lead by example, and to proclaim God’s love in all that he does.

And we made commitments of our own: to receive him, pray for him, support him, honor his ministry, and strive together in the peace and unity of Christ.

It was more than an installation. It was a reminder that ministry is something we do together—trusting God to guide us, equip us, and lead us into what comes next.

We are grateful for Pastor Eric’s willingness to answer God’s call, and we look forward with hope and anticipation to the ministry ahead.

Welcome to this new chapter, Pastor Eric. We’re so glad to be walking this journey together.

Life isn’t easy. It can be hard. It can be devastating. It can be wearying. God knows that and God leads us into community that we might find the support, the care and comfort that we need when times are tough. The Holy Spirit comforts us that we might be comforters for others. It is in community that we care for others and we ourselves receive care. That is not something we can just do for ourselves. May we open ourselves to the care and comfort that God longs for us to know in community.

What if the people God is bringing into your life aren’t accidental?

Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. We need people who encourage us, challenge us, help us grow, and remind us who God is calling us to be.

So here’s the question:
Who is the Holy Spirit bringing around you so you can run your race of faith well?

Maybe it’s not about finding your people.

Maybe it’s being open to the people Jesus is already bringing your way.

Building Real Community | Hebrews 10:23-25 | Pr. Kendall Koenig

All of us can make resolutions. Many of us aren’t good at staying on track. One of the most powerful ways to stay on track is to have someone else as an accountability partner. In our faith life, we need those partners as well. People who will encourage us toward the right choices, the best actions, towards service, towards kindness, towards faithfulness. It is in “meeting together” that we are strengthened for our calling in following Jesus. We need others to help us stay on track. Do you have that community in your life?

Buried with Christ. Raised to new life.

This past Sunday, we experienced a beautiful day celebrating God’s grace at work during our Annual Immersion Baptism and Baptismal Recommitment Service.

“For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God…”
Colossians 2:12

Longing to Belong | Acts 2:42-47 | Pr. Kendall Koenig

The early Christian movement knew something immediately and instinctively—we need to be with others to follow Jesus. God created in us a longing to belong. In our American rugged individualistic society, we want to be able to do everything on our own. In American church life, church is something we “attend.” But God intends a church, a Christian community to be a place where we belong. But for that to happen, we have to invest ourselves—our time, our energy there. We need time with others who share a connection to God, with Jesus. It grounds us. It encourages us. Eating together. Praying together. Worshiping together. Friends are good—but friends who share values is even more important.
