We’ve been spared, however other siblings have not. Please help if you are able.
Are you looking for a way to help in the wake of this week of intense storms? There are some urgent needs, and our friends in the Wisconsin Conference United Methodist Church offer an ecumenical opportunity! Their emergency response team is hosting a call at 3 pm on Saturday afternoon that is open to all of us. Keep reading.
From UMCOR-Wisconsin's Director of Response & Recovery:
We are beginning to understand the scope of this historical series of storms. We are in need of a collective response to this disaster. Please join us on a 3 pm zoom this Saturday to learn how you/your church can help.
This call will discuss:
-How churches can become involved in helping those through the state when the rains stop,
---How to train a team to help neighbors clean out their basements,
-How individuals and couples can join teams,
-How individuals can train to take survivor calls who need assistance and place the request into a data base, where volunteer helpers can find them.
The UMC Wisconsin Disaster Response & Recovery Services (sponsored by UMCOR) has been actively involved in long-term recovery work in Milwaukee and that effort will continue. We will also continue to provide Disaster Case Management. We must now pivot to a statewide response.
