Union University Church

Union University Church We are a community church for people of all denominations. Join us for worship Sundays at 10:30 am. We worship on Sundays, at 10:30 a.m. in Alfred, NY.

Our worship and structure are congregational in style and our members are committed to listening to one another's ideas and faith experiences believing that such openness is instructive in our growth together as a community and in our individual call to serve Christ in our lives. We average 70-90 people in worship, a number which enables us to perform important ministries together yet allows a fam

ily feeling of close fellowship. Our children and youth are very important to our congregation, participating in the life of the church through our educational program, youth fellowship, worship, service projects, and other programs. We also believe strongly in demonstrating our faith through the care of others and work hard to find ways of bringing our resources, our energy, and our concern to bear on the needs of the world through both our support of an extensive benevolence budget, and through the individual service of our members. in the Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church, 5 Church St. Children's classes begin around 10:45 a.m. (Children participate in the first part of worship and leave for class after Children's Time.)

UUC is thrilled to welcome the Rev. Dr. Eileen Borduin Vanderzwan as our new pastor!

Ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Presbyterian Church, she brings a unique blend of theological depth and artistic passion, holding a Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.

With a background in music and choral conducting and experience serving congregations from New York to Scotland, she is dedicated to creating "windows into the holy" through inclusive, arts-inspired worship. Please join us for her first sermon on Pentecost Sunday, May 24, as we begin this exciting new chapter together.

On Saturday, December 20 at 4:30pm UUC will offer a brief Blue Christmas Service for our church family and the community. For those who may not know, a Blue Christmas service is a gentle, reflective worship gathering for people who find the Christmas season difficult. It acknowledges grief, loss, loneliness, illness, and weariness, and creates space for honesty rather than forced cheer. Through quiet music, prayer, and candle lighting, a Blue Christmas service offers compassion, permission to feel what is real, and hope rooted in God’s presence with us in the darkness. All are welcome.
