For over 150 years, First Lutheran has been a faithful presence in Alexandria. Besides being a center for worship and ministry, it has long served as a place where numerous groups from the community come together and meet. First Lutheran is a welcoming place. The people who gather and make this their church home are every day people, young and old alike, who find joy and purpose in being the churc

h together. Worship is at the center of who we are. You’ll find a variety of approaches to the worship services. Our prayer is that worship would inspire, encourage and enable us to know Jesus better and to reflect his love in our lives. First Lutheran is invested in its ministry to children and youth. Our music program is dynamic and has a long and rich tradition. We are a growing congregation that is willing to try new things and excited to move ahead. We look forward to the future and see that our best days are yet to come.

God's bigger self is a gracious mystery, so understanding how God can be 3-in-1 can be mind-boggling. This artwork by Dr. Steve Thomason of Luther Seminary, aka "The Art Pastor", helps us understand the Trinity by telling the story of what God does.

God is the lover of all creation.
Jesus the beloved is God in human form.
The Holy Spirit works through us to share God's love with the world.

To know God is to know LOVE. That's who God is.

The 2026 Northwestern Minnesota Synod Assembly was held virtually on Saturday, May 30th, with a fitting theme: "...grace in a digital space." 21 people from Conference 8 gathered at FLC, including our own voting members, to participate in the assembly. We began the day with worship, then moved to the gathering space for the business portion of the meeting. Folks were grateful that we shared our space, technology, and extended some good ol' First Lutheran Hospitality.

The 2026 FLC Garden is officially planted! 🌱

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who spent time digging, planting, and preparing for a season of growing fresh produce for the Outreach Food Shelf. Their hard work will help provide healthy food for our neighbors in need.
