We will post discussion boards, calendars, upcoming events, and prayer requests! Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church has a long-standing tradition of an alive and vibrant Youth community. We are focused on sharing the Gospel Message with high school teens with a program that incorporates catechesis, today’s issues facing teens, social gathering time, and an emphasis on prayer and the Sacraments, all
centered on the Eucharist and the Liturgy. We incorporate dynamic speakers, from inside and outside the church parish, we have Worship nights where we gather in the Church and worship our Lord in Adoration with music led by our talented and world-renowned worship leaders. Come and see what it’s all about!! The curriculum used for the high school youth program is taken from the Lifeteen Program. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops or USCCB approves this curriculum because it falls in line with the Renewing the Vision Document that the USCCB put out. For more information on Renewing the Vision please visit http://www.usccb.org/laity/youth/rtvintro.shtml. The schedule for the Youth Group is a four to five week rotation where we cover two catechetical lessons, an issue night, Adoration and reconciliation night, and a social night. While the catechetical nights come straight out of the Lifeteen program, the issue nights come from a variety of sources. Issue night topics can include lessons pulled from the Theology of the Body for teens program, nights on alcohol and drugs, teen pregnancy, bullying, or any other topic that teenagers face in their day-to-day life. The social nights tend to fall around a holiday. We have Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, we have a Super Bowl party, and other times to just gather and have fun in a Christian environment. OLPS has a Jr High program that meets on Wednesday nights. The Jr High program follows the same rotation and schedule as the High school program. The Jr high program also uses the curriculum put out by Lifeteen. The Edge program is the Jr High version of Lifeteen and adheres to the same standards set forth by the USCCB. This program has been an excellent feeder to our high school youth group. We find that when teens are involved at the Jr High level, they tend to stay involved throughout High School as well. Come join us!! For more information contact Kristine Antoon at [email protected]
