When Jesus saw that people were “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd,” he sent out the twelve apostles - but not to be shepherds, rather to be “sheep among wolves.” If you feel harassed and helpless, we don’t want to tell you what to do; we are called to walk with you as fellow sheep. Come graze with us on Sunday at 9:30, in person or online.

Our gospel story this week features three people who, in their time and place, would have expected rejection or judgment from religious people - because of their jobs, their bodies, or their pain. But they weren’t afraid of Jesus. God’s compassion is bigger than ours, and we’re trying to catch up. Come join us in experiencing God’s welcome and learning to be welcoming ourselves. Sunday at 9:30, in person or on YouTube.

In Matthew's gospel, when the risen Jesus appears for the final time to his disciples, we are told that "they worshipped and they doubted" - literally in the Greek, they "wavered." And things haven't changed - when we gather for worship, we also at the same time waver, not sure whether we really believe. And the mission Jesus gives them - to enter into the life of God, to enter into the community of the Triune God - is addressed to all of us who worship and who waver. Come worship and waver with us, come enter into communion with us and with God, this Sunday, 9:30 a.m. in person and on YouTube. Everybody is welcome and included at Epiphany (yes, even you!).

Two disciples of Jesus were going home to Emmaus, deeply shocked after his crucifixion. "We had hoped he was the one." And Jesus went with them. Jesus still walks with us as we walk with our disappointments, hurts, all the things we hoped for that didn't work out. And reveals himself to us in Word and Sacrament, just as he did in Emmaus. Come join us Sunday, 9:30 a.m., in person or on YouTube. We've got a place for you!

When Pilate pointed to Jesus and said: "Here is the man!" he knew more than he realized. Here is the human being; here is a human life lived fully as the image of God as we were all meant to be; here is a human being who remained faithful and loved without limit even to the end. Now Creation itself is finished; now we are ready for God's new creation to begin. Join us for worship on this Good Friday, at 12:00 noon or at 7:00 p.m. in person, or on YouTube.

Martin Luther once said that "a Christian is the most free lord of all, and subject to none; a Christian is the most dutiful servant of all, and subject to everyone." At the Last Supper Jesus embodies both parts of this paradox - the supremely free and sovereign Lord and Creator of all washes the feet of others like a humble servant, and commands us to love others as we have been loved.

Join us as we begin our observance of the Three Days of Easter on Thursday, April 2 with the service of the Lord's Supper at 7:00 p.m. In person or on YouTube. Everyone is welcome, all ages, all faith backgrounds, all kinds of families - everyone! Come be part of a community of people set free to love and serve!

When Jesus asked for the stone to be rolled away from the tomb of Lazarus, his family objected -- he's going to stink! There's a lot we cover up in our world, in our families, in our lives, because bringing them out into the open would stink. It takes faith to open the door, but Jesus shows us that this is the path to freedom and life. Come join us as we read this story together and support one another as we grow in faith that isn't afraid of all that stinks. 9:30 a.m. in person and on YouTube; Sunday School and handbell choir practice will follow the service. Everybody's welcome!

This Sunday we begin four weeks of gospel readings from John that tell the stories of four people who encountered Jesus and how that encounter changed their lives. This week: Nicodemus, who comes to Jesus in secret, under cover of darkness, and is invited to trust the Spirit that brings new life in unanticipated ways for the life and the salvation of the whole world. How is God calling you out of a dark place to be a blessing for others? Come join us, 9:30 a.m. in person or on YouTube.

We are dust and to dust we shall return - and we are beloved children of God meant to love and be loved without ending. We gather on Ash Wednesday to remind one another that the first of these truths can be faced without fear if we have trust in the second truth. Whatever your level of fear or faith, come join us as we begin the pilgrimage of Lent together. We will gather in person at 9:15 a.m. or at 7:00 p.m. for a short (about 30 minute) service of the Word with ashes. The morning service will also be available on YouTube. Everyone is welcome!
