Dear Friends:

One of the unexpected benefits of the dreadful COVID era of 2020-2021 was having the opportunity to create unique recordings for our online church services with some brilliant musicians. This is an our version of a hymn that is popular this time of year:

How fast times change! Just 3 years ago, I recorded/released my “Team with No Name” video and it “swept the nation” with...

How fast times change! Just 3 years ago, I recorded/released my “Team with No Name” video and it “swept the nation” with millions of views, catapulting me to superstardom. With the departure of Snyder, Riviera, Chase Young and others, it’s time to give this song one last spin as it descends into the dust bin of Redskins history. Enjoy!!!

This is a humorous 4-minute video parody of the "team formerly known as the Washington Redskins" as they confront a name change and football in the era of th...

Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer for Peace, BCP p. 815

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for the Human Family, BCP p. 815

Today we had a pet blessing along with the other congregations of Potomac Episcopal in Olivet’s churchyard. Such a fun and sweet occasion!

Greetings, everyone! COTS is still thriving, worshiping online (no in-person worship for now). We have joined hands with four other Episcopal congregations for this time, which means more voices and more variety. Please join us!

You can come to our Zoom worship at 10am Eastern time every Sunday, followed by coffee hour at 11am. We'd be thrilled to have you!

Our Zoom worship is filled with music, happy faces, familiar voices, great preaching from six talented clergy folk, and the warmth of just being together in real time.

You can call in using the phone numbers below, or simply click the Zoom link to join on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. We hope you join us. Meantime, may God's blessing fill you with hope, courage, and good health.

“Since much of life keeps killing us, we need Jesus’ resurrection power in order to face tomorrow. Resurrection comes small like seeds and leaven. One little word of encouragement, one affirmation, perhaps evoking one smile or laugh. One little gift can change us.”
—Brother Luke Ditewig

Hello Friends,
Here is a thoughtful piece from Richard Rohr, and it talks about following Jesus in creating community wherever we are. Enjoy!

“The secret to community lies in the way we let other people get through to us and the way we move out of ourselves. This is, of course, the mystery of spirituality, of vulnerability, and powerlessness. When a person on a serious inner journey to their own vulnerability is also in immediate contact with the vulnerable of the world, then some form of community will almost always result.

Without an interior life and a love of justice, most communities just serve themselves. We who live in the United States have to look out for this in particular. We’re rather narcissistic as individuals and as a society, always looking out for “Number One,” whether it’s our self, our child, our church, our race, or our political party. But that is clearly not the kind of community Jesus created! He was always moving beyond the boundaries of his own kinship circles.”

How will you share yourself today?
Blessings, love, courage, and peace to you from God in Jesus Christ!
