O Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray for your blessings. Do not forget our earthly sorrows.
Look upon those of us who suffer, who struggle against difficulties, who are discouraged. Have pity on the lonely-hearted and on those of us who have been parted from loved ones. Obtain help for all who are in need,
and have compassion on us and everyone dear to us. Comfort all who mourn, who tremble, who worry and grant us hope and peace.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us! Amen 🙏🏾

The Josephites joyfully celebrate the ordination of two new priests, giving thanks to God for their generous response to the call of discipleship and service. As they begin their priestly ministry, we ask the faithful to join us in praying that the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen them as they proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and serve God's people. We invite all who are able to participate in this special celebration through the livestream at youtube.com/. Please keep these newly ordained priests, their families, and the Josephite community in your prayers.

Retired Bishop John H. Ricard, the first Black bishop of both the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Fla., and a nationally respected advocate for racial justice, May 20. He was 86.

It is with deep sorrow that the Josephites announce the passing of Most Reverend John H. Ricard, SSJ, Superior General of the Josephites and Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, who died on May 20, 2026, at Saint Joseph’s Seminary in Washington, DC.

Born on February 29, 1940, Bishop Ricard faithfully served the Catholic Church for decades through his ministry as a Josephite priest, counselor, educator, pastor, bishop, humanitarian, and leader. He devoted his life to
the proclamation of the Gospel, humanitarian efforts worldwide, the mission of the Josephite Society, and the pastoral care of God’s people, especially within Black Catholic communities.

The Josephite community asks for prayers for the repose of Bishop Ricard’s soul, for the Josephite community, his family, friends, and all who
mourn his passing.

Further information regarding funeral arrangements and memorial services
will be shared soon.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our Pastor, Rev. Donald Fest, SSJ, on the occasion of his 50th Anniversary of priestly service. We are deeply grateful for his faithful witness, leadership, and enduring commitment as a Josephite. He is truly loved and appreciated by our entire community. Special thanks to Phyllis Johnson and Michaela LaFond for beautifully capturing the joy of this celebration through their photos.
