The August 2026 Senior Potluck Luncheon had 39 seniors attend. Again, there was an abundance of delicious food and great fellowship. Scott Nance was the MC and Pat Brown, the director of the Albuquerque Christian Children's Home gave the devotional. Pat told us that in his youth he started riding bulls at the rodeo and wasn't too committed. But as time passed he "locked in" his commitment. He then became a contestant member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He would enter events and eventually, thanks to a friend who owned an airplane, would attend up to 5 events a week. Pat then related some Bible characters who locked in their commitment. He mentioned Jonathan, David, and, of course, Jesus. Each one exemplified commitment. Pat admonished us to lock in our personal commitment and find a place to serve. Two ladies from the Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs gave a presentation about the various programs offered by the city to senior citizens. There are many programs and they gave each attendee a packet with useful information. You can read about these programs online at https://www.cabq.gov/seniors.

Peter loved Christ. Peter denied Christ. At the Resurrection a special message was to GO to Peter that Christ was no longer in the tomb. Even when we make mistakes there is grace. We are told He is Risen!

We had 27 attend our July Senior "Picnic" Luncheon, enjoying hamburgers, hotdogs, and complimentary sides - coupled with great fellowship. Scott Nance was the MC and Todd Deeds gave the devotional. Todd described how a health issue caused him to change his focus and try to figure out how God wanted him to use his talents to serve others. Todd related a story about going to Dunkin' Donuts to meet some friends and overheard some young men cussing and disturbing customers. He decided to talk with them and told them their language was offensive to other customers. He ended up sharing a brief gospel message with them. Sixteen years later he was at Dunkin' and one of those men came up to him and told him he "saved" him because he turned his life over to Jesus as a result of what Todd had told them. Todd left us with the admonition to use our talents and step up to opportunities to serve.
