We had 35 attend our March senior potluck luncheon. There was plenty of good food and fellowship. Scott Nance was the MC, Kyle Whittenberg gave the devotional, and Larry and Betty Cochran provided the entertainment. Kyle's talk was based on the book, "The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder". An AI overview states that it's "a non-fiction book about the 1740s shipwreck of a British warship, HMS Wager, and the subsequent survival, mutiny, and court martial of its crew, exploring themes of human nature, survival, and the nature of empire through conflicting accounts of the events. The story follows the survivors as they are marooned, build a makeshift vessel, and endure a perilous journey, only for their tales to clash dramatically, leading to a high-stakes trial to determine who is telling the truth." Kyle used the contrast in the events to remind us that when we are facing trials and are at our lowest point, God meets us there. That our true character is revealed in crisis. He emphasized Romans 5:2-5, that our perseverance in suffering produces character, hope, and love. Larry played the guitar and he and Betty sang several songs for us, ending with "Happy Trails to You". Thanks to everyone who helped make the luncheon a success!
