A Stewardship Prayer for June (Courtesy of International Catholic Stewardship Council).

Dear Heavenly Father,
As we dedicate this month of June
to the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
we ask you to grant to us
compassionate hearts;
hearts rich with your love,
embraced by your compassion.
Grant us generous hearts:
hearts that never count the cost;
hearts that seek to serve
and not be served.
Grant us hearts that love peace:
hearts that promote truth and justice,
transform hatred and anger, and
seek unity and reconciliation.
Grant us hearts of a steward:
hearts that are filled with gratitude,
eager to share, and
long to give back to you.
Grant us hearts filled with your Spirit:
hearts open to conversion,
filled with hope, and
on fire with your Word.
We pray this in Jesus’ name.
Amen

A Stewardship Prayer for April (Courtesy of International Catholic Stewardship Council).

Oh Blessed Lord!
Oh Risen Lord!
We look through the crosses
we have carried this past year
and give you thanks
for the awe-inspiring hope
that Easter brings.
We give you thanks
for calling us your friends
and allowing us to share
in the sacrifice of your
of your body and blood,
which is poured out for many.
Oh merciful Lord,
redeemer and teacher,
by the power of the Holy Spirit
give us the patience and insight
to listen to you during this time
of continued uncertainty.
Give us the wisdom to
find creative ways
to put the Eucharist into action;
and give us the courage to bring
your Easter message of hope
to a world that desperately needs
your love.
To you be glory and honor
forever and ever.
Amen

A Stewardship Prayer for March (Courtesy of International Catholic Stewardship Council).

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this new day, and
another opportunity to give the
traditions of Lent genuine meaning
in my life.
Help me to be a good steward of
this day; to use it wisely to reflect
on my words and deeds, review
my habits, and correct my faults.
Inspire me to live as Jesus did, to
embrace his cross, and live the
great paschal mystery in a way that
gives hope to others.
Be merciful to me this day. Forgive
me my failings and weaknesses.
Cultivate in me a humble and
repentant heart.
Prepare me for the renewal of
my baptismal vows, today and
throughout the season of Lent; so
that at Easter I may truly rejoice in
Christ Jesus, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.
Amen

Happy New Year! A Stewardship Prayer for January
(Courtesy of International Catholic Stewardship Council)

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the gift of a new year.
You have entrusted us with the
coming days,
weeks and months as stewards
of your divine plan;
to live in gratitude,
joy, and an ever growing confidence
in your Kingdom to come.
We ask for the humility
to reform our lives;
the courage to commit ourselves
to you no matter the cost;
and the wisdom
to shine the light of faith
on others.
Open our hearts,
give us your Spirit
and show us how to
share your love
so that we may bring hope
to a world in need of your
justice and peace.
We pray to be a sign of your
grace in this new year
through your son, Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever.
Amen.

A Stewardship Prayer for September
(Courtesy of International Catholic Stewardship Council)

Lord Jesus Christ,
As we begin to shift from summer schedules
to autumn demands, teach us to recognize you, and help us follow you amidst our busy life.
Open the Scriptures to us
that we may know you, see you, hear you –
in the voices of friends and family, in the ministries of our parish,
in the proclamation of the Word, and in the Breaking of the Bread.
Teach us to be good stewards, that we may use your gifts wisely and care for all those you place in our path.
Encourage us, when we are overwhelmed. Strengthen us, when we are frightened. Challenge our complacency.
Help us make this new season a time of spiritual renewal,
hope,
and action to proclaim the Gospel
in our words and in our deeds.
For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Today, we will receive ashes on our foreheads as a sign of our desire to follow Christ throughout the holy season of Lent. The ashes symbolize our humble admission of weakness, our intent to turn from sin, and our desire to humble ourselves before our loving and merciful God. By our works of charity, fasting, and prayer, we will follow Christ on the Way of the Cross that will lead to the mysteries of Holy Week and the triumph of Easter. Throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, we will come together as a community of believers to avail ourselves of Christ’s forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation; we will gather around the altar on Sunday to strengthen our resolve to share in the sufferings of Christ; and we will participate in prayer services, such as the Stations of the Cross so that we will be prepared to celebrate the great mystery of Christ’s resurrection. As a church, the Body of Christ, we are called to give witness to the sufferings of Christ here and now in the Southwest. We renew our commitment to walk the Via Dolorosa as we accompany those who live under the heavy weight of poverty, those who struggle with the fear caused by violent crime, and those enslaved by addiction.

Let us pray that our Lenten resolutions will bring us closer to one another as we reach out to all those in need.

Lent means springtime. It is a time of new life that culminates with the Easter mysteries. I ask that we keep each other in prayer during this Lenten retreat so that we all grow closer to our Savior, crucified in weakness and risen in glory. May that same Risen Christ fill each of us with the graces we seek so that we may renew our baptismal promises this Easter with vigor and firm purpose. God bless us all.
