Saying ‘Yes’ to the Present Moment
by Nancy R Bowers, RScP
24x

“I do not know what anything is for,” ~Lesson 25, A Course in Miracles

“Always say ‘yes’ to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to something that already is? What could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say ‘yes’ to life – and see how life suddently starts working for you rather than against you.” ~ Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

Pause. As I slowly breathe into this moment, I release any and all ideas of what or how it should be and simply allow. No judgment. No comparing and contrasting, just noticing free of the notion that I know anything. Without the mind’s preconceived ideas, life just is. The unfolding is neither good nor bad, it just is.

I reach for delight. In the space of unknowing, I discover wonder, curiosity, the desire to go deeper. Without the mind’s labels, I connect with Reverence. Freed from the past, I notice Presence. I laugh each time I see ego trying to stuff infinity into my limited perceptions. This is the insanity of thinking I know things. I eliminate the opportunity to learn. I efface the beauty that is strutting its stuff before me. By thinking I know what “should” be, I miss what is.

Pause. I remind myself that living life as a meditation, emptying my mind each time I notice the noise, is the way back to sacred ground. No judging. No condemning, not even exalting. Just being. Just allowing myself to be wrapped in the stillness. I return again and again to the remembrance of Spirit’s perfection. Love it forever here. Peace is eternally now. They are never absence, only sometimes unnoticed by the mind that thinks it knows things.

I delight even in the noticing of the myriad ways ego reaches for dissatisfaction. Its lunacy is hysterical. It spins tales based on suppostion. Its yarns are fabrications but it tries to stand on them like they are absolute truths instead of ego stories. Again and again, it tries to assume the role of authority, capitalizing on what it thinks it knows. When I remember, it is a constant source of endless amusement. When I forget, I reclaim misery.

Choose again. “I could see peace instead of this,” lesson 34, Course in Miraces.

It is all just a game of hide and seek. I pretend I am separate from God, and lose my million-dollar view in the process. But it is all fine. I never did know what anything was for, so its pointless to try to direct life. I step back. I let God lead. I’m ready to see what He/She/It has for me. I so prefer living in the mystery.

And so it is. Amen.

In our review of the theme of "Doubt as Devotion this past month, we put divine doubt into conversation with becoming and higher, deeper love. Taken together, these three chart a path of Divine expression through surrender to vulnerability and a trusting of the Universal process.

The Creator Fills the Creation
by Rev. Gil William Olmstead, Spiritual Director
< 1x

Gratitude fills me as I awaken to the day. The cool air filling the room while the bright sun shines through the windows enliven my being. I am reminded that Spirit is everywhere present in all things, through all things and as all things. The Creator fills the creation. The Creator expresses through the creation. The Creator is witnesses as It’s creation. The Creator and It’s creation is One. As Its creations, we are One with the Creator. Nothing can be outside of this Oneness since all creation is endowed with the substance of the Creator.

So I move into this day knowing that all is in Divine right order. I know that my life is perfectly expressing as the Creator – in love, in joy, in peace, and in compassion. I know that everywhere the appearance of lack or limitation is revealed, the abundance of the Creator is simply not being recognized. All things are the substance and evidence of the overwhelming abundance of this Universe. There is Compassion and Love enough to create an entire new Universe through the inexhasutable supply that is Spirit.

For this and all things beyond words I am in gratitude. This life is a gift that I cherish. I release this prayer into the perfection from whence it came trusting that it is done!

And so It is!

Amen

Treatment for Play and Joy
by Marilyn O’Leary, Practitioner Emeritus

I am one with the Everlasting, All-Present, and All-Powerful God. I am one with Love and Light. I am one with the One.

I am the place where Love plays. I am the place where Spirit plays.

I breathe and let go of all I think I am holding onto and holding together.

I let go of all I think I am in charge of and all I wish to be in control of.

I give it all over to Spirit, knowing that Spirit is in charge for my highest good.

There is no effort to my life. I am Divinely guided.

I am inspired to play today, to experience a fuller life of relaxation and joy.

What does a day of play look like? It can include music, singing, laughter, love, being with people who love me, whom I love, expressing my talents and interests, being where I am inspired to be.

I smile, knowing it is good for me, for my body, for my spirit, and for all who come into contact with me. My smile spreads joy. It relaxes me and brings me closer to enlightenment. It reduces pain and stress. It is a gift from Spirit. I smile, knowing that my smile expresses the Good, the Love, the Gratitude I feel for being alive.

I am grateful for the understanding that play, joy, and love bring me closer to the spirit in me. I am filled with gratitude as I joyfully release these affirmations knowing that they return to bless me and everyone who says them with me.

And so it is. Amen
