Yesterday was Rwanda Sunday — we gathered in a circle to sing a ca****la — just like the kids at Aspire Academy do every day, heard team member testimonies from their village home visits, and watched this beautiful recap video from the trip. We had so much to celebrate in all God is doing in Rwanda and through our partnership with Ivan and Jordan and Aspire Academy. Praise God! 🇷🇼💛

Today is the last chance to register for our Intro to Hebrew Bible Class!

This hybrid course, some online and some in person, is the first class in Refuge’s new discipleship pathway program launching this fall: a four-year journey into scripture, spiritual practice, rule of life, and vocation. It is for those looking to carve out a dedicated space and season to invest in their own spiritual formation. The Intro to Hebrew Bible class is the first of three classes focused on equipping students with the tools for engaging scripture for a life of discipleship.

Not sure about committing to the full four years? No pressure — consider this fall your chance to try it out. We’re launching this course as the first step of the Pathway, and we’d love for you to join us for the experiment.

Noonday Prayer Practice

Last week, David invited us into something simple but weighty: praying “Your kingdom come, Your will be done in us and in our city” — every day, at noon.

It’s not just a vision to catch or a rally cry to gather around. It’s a prayer to pray. Some days it’ll roll off your tongue like praise. Other days it might feel more like resistance, or desperation, or barely-there apathy. All of that is welcome in this practice — because we’re not praying it alone. We’re joined by a whole communion of saints, and by Jesus Himself, praying right alongside us.

As we navigate our facility situation as a church family, this feels like exactly the right prayer for exactly this moment. So here’s the invite: set an alarm for noon, and each day pray those words over yourself, your family, and this city.

This past Sunday, we got to do something bittersweet — celebrating five incredible years of Miss Amanda serving as our Kids Director. 💛

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Amanda. The love you’ve poured into our kids, the countless hours, the heart you’ve brought to Refuge Kids — it’s shaped our church family in ways we’ll carry forward for years to come. We are endlessly grateful for you and for your family, who have given so much alongside you.

We also got to celebrate Amanda passing the baton to Stacy and Gary, who will be stepping in to lead Refuge Kids forward. We're so excited for this next chapter and know our kids are in wonderful hands!

While we’ll miss seeing you on staff each week, we’re so glad this isn’t goodbye — just a new season. Refuge wouldn’t be Refuge without you and your family, and we can’t wait to keep doing life together.

Our Set Sail Adventure VBS from a few weeks ago was one for the books! 🌊

These kids dove into crafts, worship, new friendships, and games that pointed straight back to Jesus. Along the way they learned about the fruits of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control — and got to see what it looks like to live them out with friends.

So grateful for every volunteer who helped make this week happen, and for these sweet faces who reminded us all what it means to have childlike faith. ⚓️💙

Invite the Holy Spirit to help you listen — and keep listening — for the barriers that may be keeping someone from knowing Jesus. As opportunities come, allow God to use your presence, your actions, and your words to reflect His love.
