“On the far side of every cross we find the newness of life in the Holy Spirit, that new life which will reach its fulfillment in the resurrection.” St. Pope John Paul II
Today is Pentecost Sunday! Pentecost means fifty or 50 days from Easter Sunday. Pentecost is the celebration of the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles, Mary and other followers of Jesus who were gathered together. The Holy Spirit gave the Apostles gifts to go out and preach the Gospel to all and because of this, Pentecost is considered to be the beginning of the church.

Today is the feast day of St. Isidro the Farmer, our patron saint, here at The Catholic Foundation. Through the intercession of Blessed Isidro, we may find the example of patience and humility and walk so faithfully in his footsteps. May we show love, care, and mercy to those who are less fortunate just like Isidro and may we work diligently and pray without ceasing. Retablo painting: Arlene Cisneros Sena

The Ascension of Jesus

Jesus made multiple appearances to his disciples in several locations during the 40 days after his Resurrection. His magnificent Ascension signifies his final time on earth which is celebrated by the church and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us hope by promising “When I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” (John 14:3)

Our Lady of Fátima refers to the Virgin Mary as she is believed to have appeared to three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal, in 1917. In these apparitions, she delivered messages of prayer, repentance, and conversion, urging devotion to God and the Rosary, especially in response to the turmoil of the world. She is closely associated with themes of peace, sacrifice, and hope.
