Don’t be afraid, little flock—God delights in giving you the kin-dom.

Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.

Be ready. Keep your lamps lit. Live awake to the Beloved’s arrival—whether in the quiet of night or the break of dawn.

The One we serve will gather us at the table,
turn the tables of power, and serve us with joy.

Marriages of LGBTQIA+ Americans are NOT a threat to religious liberty. What is at risk are the lives of LGBTQIA+ people all across this country. As people of faith, your voice is critical in making it clear that the freedom to marry is not an attack on religious liberty.

"Ten years after the Supreme Court extended marriage rights to same-sex couples nationwide, the justices this fall will consider for the first time whether to take up a case that explicitly asks them to overturn that decision."

God of freedom and mercy,
we pray for all who are being held against their will—in unjust prisons, in the grip of violence, in situations of abuse, trafficking, or coercion.

Surround them with Your presence.
Preserve their dignity and hope.
Strengthen those working for their release. Transform the hearts of captors.

Until all are free, keep us steadfast in prayer and bold in action.
Amen.

Jesus then told them a parable in these words: “There was a rich farmer who had a good harvest.

‘What will I do?’ the farmer mused. ‘I have no place to store my harvest!’

‘I know!’ the farmer said. ‘I’ll pull down my grain bins and build larger ones. All my grain and my goods will go there.

Then I’ll say to myself: You have blessings in reserve for years to come. Relax! Eat, drink, and be merry!’

But God said to the farmer, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. To whom will all this wealth of yours go now?’

That’s the way it works with people who accumulate riches for themselves, but are not rich in God’s sight.” -Luke 12:17-21

Let’s invest in love, community, and justice. That’s the kind of wealth that lasts.

Some days call for courage.
Some for stillness.
Some for doing nothing at all.

This prayer by Rev. Theodore Parker Ferris meets us where we are:

“If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely.
If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly.
If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently.
If I am to do nothing, help me to do it gallantly.”

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning…

Whatever yesterday held, today brings another chance to worship, to hope, to sing.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul… Sing like never before.”
Let your heart rise with the morning.
