Good morning! Congratulations—you've made it to Friday! By now, your mind may already be thinking about weekend plans, unfinished projects, or maybe even what you're having for dinner tonight. Today's Scripture reminds us to keep our focus on things that last forever.

Scripture

Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

Who Is Speaking?

The Apostle Paul is writing to the church at Colossae.

Extended Meaning

Paul is not telling believers to ignore earthly responsibilities. Rather, he is encouraging them to view life from an eternal perspective. When our minds are fixed on God's kingdom, our priorities, decisions, attitudes, and actions begin to reflect His purposes. Earthly concerns lose their power to dominate our thinking when we remember our heavenly calling.

Application

Throughout the day, pause and ask yourself: "Am I focused on temporary concerns or eternal truths?" Keeping our minds on Christ helps us navigate challenges, maintain perspective, and live with purpose. A heavenly mindset influences every area of life.

Good morning! Have you ever gotten a song stuck in your head and found yourself humming it all day long? Thoughts work much the same way. Whatever we repeatedly focus on tends to stay with us. Today's Scripture teaches us what deserves our attention.

Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Who Is Speaking?

The Apostle Paul is writing to the believers in Philippi.

Extended Meaning

Paul provides a practical guide for healthy thinking. Instead of dwelling on negativity, gossip, fear, or impurity, believers are instructed to fill their minds with things that reflect God's character. The verse is not a call to ignore reality but a call to view life through the lens of God's truth and goodness.

Application

Take inventory of what occupies your thoughts. What are you watching? What conversations are shaping your outlook? What content fills your spare moments? Deliberately choose influences that encourage faith, hope, truth, and godliness.

Good morning! If thoughts were text messages, some of us would have a spam folder overflowing every day. The good news is that God has given us the power to identify unhealthy thoughts and remove them before they take root.

Scripture

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NIV)
"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world... we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

Who Is Speaking?

The Apostle Paul is writing to the church in Corinth.

Extended Meaning

Paul describes the Christian life as a spiritual battle. The enemy often attacks through lies, doubts, fears, temptations, and false beliefs. God's truth serves as our weapon against these attacks. Taking thoughts captive means examining them and comparing them with God's Word. If a thought contradicts God's truth, it must be rejected and replaced.

Application

When thoughts of fear, bitterness, anxiety, or temptation arise, don't simply accept them. Evaluate them through the lens of Scripture. Ask yourself: "Does this thought align with God's truth?" If not, surrender it to Christ and replace it with what God says.

Good morning! Have you noticed that some mornings your mind wakes up ready to conquer the world, while other mornings it seems to need three cups of coffee just to remember its own name? Thankfully, God is concerned not only with what we do but also with how we think.

Scripture

Romans 8:6-7 (NIV)
"The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God..."

Who Is Speaking?

The Apostle Paul is writing to the believers in Rome.

Extended Meaning

Paul contrasts two ways of living. One mindset is controlled by sinful desires and worldly priorities. The other is directed by the Holy Spirit. A fleshly mind focuses on self, while a Spirit-led mind focuses on God. The result of one is spiritual emptiness, while the result of the other is life, peace, and fellowship with God.

Application

Every day we choose which voice will guide our thinking. We can feed our minds with negativity, fear, and selfishness, or we can fill them with Scripture, prayer, worship, and godly influences. The more we yield our minds to God's Spirit, the more we experience His peace.

Warm Welcome

Good morning! Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you went there? Then, after standing there looking confused for thirty seconds, you walked back out and suddenly remembered? Our minds can be wonderful servants, but they can also wander like a squirrel that just spotted three different acorns at once. Today, we'll consider how intentional choices help us guard our thoughts.

Scripture

Job 31:1 (NIV)
"I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman."

Who Is Speaking?

Job is speaking. In this chapter, he is defending his integrity before God and explaining the standards by which he has sought to live.

Extended Meaning

Job understood that sinful actions often begin with sinful thoughts. Long before an action takes place, a thought is entertained, nurtured, and allowed to grow. By making a covenant with his eyes, Job was establishing a boundary for his mind. He recognized that what enters through the eyes often shapes the heart. This verse teaches that spiritual maturity involves proactive discipline rather than reactive regret.

Application

Our culture constantly competes for our attention. Social media, television, advertisements, and endless online content all seek space in our minds. Like Job, we can establish healthy boundaries regarding what we watch, read, and focus upon. Protecting our thought life begins by being intentional about what we allow to influence us.

Theme of the Week: The Authority of Satan
Welcome

Good Friday morning! You made it through the week! Some weeks feel like spiritual warfare and customer service training rolled into one, but thank God His grace is sufficient for every challenge we face.

Scripture

“Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion… And hath put all things under his feet…”
— Ephesians 1:21-22

Expanded Meaning

Paul declares the absolute supremacy of Jesus Christ. Every power, authority, ruler, and spiritual force is beneath Him.

Satan is not equal with God.
He is a created being with limited authority and certain defeat.

Jesus reigns:

above every kingdom,
above every spiritual force,
above every fear,
and above every circumstance.

Because Christ reigns, believers can live with confidence and hope.

Daily Application

When fear or discouragement rises, remember:

Jesus is still on the throne.
God is still in control.
Evil does not win.

You may face hardship, temptation, or spiritual battles, but Christ is greater than all of it. Spend time today worshiping and thanking God for His victory.

Theme of the Week: The Authority of Satan
Welcome

Happy Thursday! At this point in the week, some of us are running on faith, leftovers, and determination. Thankfully, God’s strength never runs low, and His blessings are never on backorder.

Scripture

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”
— Ephesians 1:3

Expanded Meaning

Paul reminds believers that every spiritual blessing is found in Christ. Satan may possess temporary influence in the world, but he cannot steal the eternal blessings God has given His children.

In Christ we have:

salvation,
grace,
forgiveness,
hope,
peace,
and spiritual security.

The enemy wants believers to live as though they are spiritually poor and powerless. But God says we are already blessed in Christ.

Satan’s authority is limited; God’s authority is eternal.

Daily Application

Today, remember who you are in Christ. Do not let the enemy define your worth through:

failures,
fears,
shame,
or past mistakes.

Walk confidently knowing God has already provided what you need spiritually. Instead of focusing on what is lacking, thank God for the blessings you already possess through Jesus.
