Woodland Rooted Devotion
Theme: Controlling the Mind / Thought Life
Warm Welcome
Good morning! Congratulations—you've made it to Friday! By now, your mind may already be thinking about weekend plans, unfinished projects, or maybe even what you're having for dinner tonight. Today's Scripture reminds us to keep our focus on things that last forever.
Scripture
Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
Who Is Speaking?
The Apostle Paul is writing to the church at Colossae.
Extended Meaning
Paul is not telling believers to ignore earthly responsibilities. Rather, he is encouraging them to view life from an eternal perspective. When our minds are fixed on God's kingdom, our priorities, decisions, attitudes, and actions begin to reflect His purposes. Earthly concerns lose their power to dominate our thinking when we remember our heavenly calling.
Application
Throughout the day, pause and ask yourself: "Am I focused on temporary concerns or eternal truths?" Keeping our minds on Christ helps us navigate challenges, maintain perspective, and live with purpose. A heavenly mindset influences every area of life.
Quote
"Aim at Heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you will get neither."
— C. S. Lewis
Closing Wish
May your thoughts remain anchored in Christ as you finish the week strong. May God bless your work, your family, and your time of rest ahead. Have a wonderful Friday and a Christ-centered weekend!
"Take every thought captive to obey Christ." — 2 Corinthians 10:5
