Obituary

Ruthann Amarteifio
May 22, 1948 – July 16, 2024

I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of the Most Reverend Ruthann Amarteifio on July 16, 2024. Lady Ruthann passed peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with a serious illness.

Born Ruth Ann Mullin to parents Clarence and Gladys Mullin (Marshall) in Chenoa, Illinois on May 22, 1948, Lady Ruthann led a rich, full, and vibrant life. She traveled extensively in her favorite green Volkswagen Beatle and lived in many places throughout her life, including Chenoa, Kankakee, Chicago, and Hoopeston, Illinois; Idaho, California, and Schenectady, New York.

Ruthann is survived by Rita Mullin and other cousins, her beloved cats, her family of choice, past partners, and many, many friends all over the world.

Lady Ruthann was a social justice warrior and activist. She was a vocal advocate for religious freedom, the separation of church and state, personal liberties, diversity, social justice, Palestinian rights, animal welfare, wildlife protection, and many environmental causes.

Ruthann had a deep passion for nature and was greatly devoted to environmental protection. She was a committed vegan, growing many of her own fruits and vegetables, and was a culinary master of vegan cuisine. She loved all animals, and rescued or helped many hundreds of stray or injured animals throughout her life. Her favorite activities in life were spending time in the natural world. She was fond of taking long walks in the woods, basking among the flowers in sunny meadows, spending time near natural bodies of water, and communing with wildlife and the spirits of nature.

Lady Ruthann was a dedicated pagan leader, teacher, and elder. She passed in service as the Arch Priestess of the New Aeon Church International and the New Aeon Tradition of Wicca (formerly the Correllian Nativist Tradition), a position she held since 2004. She also served as Vice President of the Board of Directors, and Head of the Orders of Gaia, Daughters of the Goddess, Hearth Keepers, and Earth Walkers. She was the founder and Chief Priestess of Akasha Temple in Illinois and Arch Priestess of the Temple of Astral Light in New York. She was also a member of many pagan organizations, including the Fellowship of Isis, Chrysalis Ministries, Earthwise Gyre, and many others. Additionally, she was a Reiki Master, crystal healer, divination specialist, and spiritual counselor.

The New Aeon Church will be holding a memorial service for Lady Ruthann this fall in conjunction with our twentieth-anniversary celebration. A new award for excellence in clerical service shall be created in her honor, and a portion of her remains will be retained to create a religious relic at our headquarters.

Lady Ruthann was a fully awakened and self-actualized spiritual master, and a brilliant light in an all too often darkened world. Her loss will be felt deeply by many around the world. She may have passed from this plane of existence, but her influence will be felt for many generations to come, and her good works will continue. As she joins the realm of our Beloved Ancestors, we hope that she rests well in Summerland. Her time with us here may be at an end, but her journey shall continue.

In Loving Memory of Blv. Rt. Rev Aisha Beauchemin

February 20, 1984 – December 8, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a remarkable individual, Rt. Rev. Aisha Beauchemin, who departed this world on December 8, 2023. Rt. Rev. Beauchemin was a multi-talented soul, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

Born on February 20, 1984, Aisha was not only a skilled Graphic Designer with expertise in Print, Web, and Media, but also a passionate Social Media Marketer who effortlessly combined creativity and strategy to captivate audiences. Her bilingual abilities added a unique and inclusive dimension to her work, reflecting a commitment to effective communication.

Beyond the professional realm, Rt. Rev. Beauchemin was a gifted officiant who lent her talents to various ceremonies, adding a personal touch that made each occasion memorable. As a knitter, Aisha transformed threads into works of art, creating warmth and beauty with every stitch. Her crafting extended beyond knitting to include the meticulous creation of wands, besoms, and jewelry, showcasing a talent that embraced both the practical and the magical.

Blv. Rt. Rev. Beauchemin was a High Priestess in the New Aeon Church, where she has studied and worked since December 16, 2014.

Magic was more than a skill for Rt. Rev. Beauchemin; it was a part of her essence. As a practitioner of various spiritual paths, including Paganism with branches extending into Wicca, Buddhism, Celtic traditions, Hoo Doo, Conjure, Kitchen Witchery, and the Path of Me, Rt. Rev. Beauchemin embodied a rich tapestry of beliefs. Raised and mentored by her mother, a Hoodoo Conjure Priestess, Rt. Rev. Beauchemin drew from a deep well of ancestral wisdom and spirituality.

Aisha's abilities were as diverse as her interests. Her intuition, channeling, occasional clairvoyance, remote sensing, premonitions, and dowsing skills added an extra layer of mystery and intrigue to her persona.

As we bid farewell to Blv. Rt. Rev. Beauchemin, let us remember the magic that she brought into our lives—the magic of creativity, spirituality, and the genuine connections she forged with others. Rt. Rev. Beauchemin will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the positive impact she made on the world and the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a GoFundMe account to help cover her funeral expenses.

May our dear Blv. Rt. Rev. Aisha Beauchemin rest well in the Summerland and find peace before her next great adventure, and may her spirit continue to inspire us all.

For those of us who have worked so hard for social justice, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, angry and scared right now. This is your gentle reminder that rage can be healing and cleansing, holy and sacred.

It's ok to let it flow—and then turn it to action.

What can we do with that primal, searing rage that comes from witnessing injustice, disregard for the planet and for human rights? Don’t just cry. Don’t just scream. Don’t just break things—at least, not important things that you’ll regret.

Yes, rage is scary—but it is also healing, like the inflammation that fights an infection, the fever that clears away disease. Don’t turn it on yourself, or those close to you—direct it where it can do some good.

Imagine it bubbling up like a hundred million volcanoes, a massive eruption of unexpected integrity ignited by a spark from the torch of Lady Liberty. As it erupts, it creates a wall of lava around the halls of power and the seats of injustice. Lava destroys—but it also creates new lands, new possibilities. Who knows, maybe it will spark some oppressors to do the right thing?

While you imagine the bubbling lava, join me in chanting:

Rightful rage shall now ignite
The torch of truth and justice bright!
Feel the rumble, hear the call,
Justice, justice now for all!

Cast your spell, then start taking some action!

Take to the streets, the phones, and the ballot box! Identify the worst of the hypocrites, and donate to their opponents. Work for the many inspiring, brave women and good folks who are running for office. Give money to organizations supporting women's rights.
