Emmanuel Baptist Church Of Albany

Emmanuel Baptist Church Of Albany Welcome to Emmanuel Baptist Church, Albany, New York. We are a boldly inclusive, Jesus-led community, nurturing relationships with God and our neighbors.

What does tapestry of faith mean to us? It means we, as a congregation, are a social justice church. We recognize and respect the diverse personal beliefs of our members who come from very different religious backgrounds. Our church family includes people who are conservative in their theology and those who have more liberal beliefs. We are all engaged in the task of following Jesus in our daily lives.

On the Civil Rights Pilgrimage two years ago, Emmanuelites were privileged to spend several hours with Jo Ann Bland. At age 11, she was one of the youngest participants in the march from Selma to Montgomery. She endured Bloody Sunday and continued as a lifelong activist. Our time with Ms Bland was a highlight of the trip for many of us. Rest in power Jo Ann Bland!

Courageous civil rights activist Jo Ann Bland passed yesterday at 72.

We’re telling the story together this year. Some shepherds and angels will drop by. Of course we’ll hear from Mary and maybe even the usually silent Joseph will speak. With carols and candles and joy. Join us at 7 pm on Christmas Eve at 275 State Street or on Zoom.

Pastor Kathy's sermon last Sunday mentioned Rev. Michael Woolf and many others protesting the unjust and violent actions of ICE. Here is a timely word from the American Baptist Home Mission Societies.

The ABHMS Board of Directors has issued a powerful pastoral response to recent immigration enforcement actions — affirming that every person is made in the image of God and deserves dignity, respect, and compassion. They call us to prayer, advocacy, and just policy.
