As of right now, we are still planning to have service this morning. However, Sunday School will all meet in the sanctuary. There is no obligation to get out in this morning and we encourage you to join us online

While you were sleeping, your Father was at work.

One of Pastor Andrew's favorite memories also happens to be a beautiful picture of the Gospel. While we were dead in our sins, unable to save ourselves no matter how hard we tried, Christ did the work for us. The Father sent His Son to accomplish what we could never accomplish on our own.

He took care of all of the hard stuff!

And now we get to experience forgiveness, intimacy with God, victory over sin. Not because we earned it, but because Jesus did the work we couldn't.

Just like he had to jump up to grab that star, we have a part to play too. Your faith (trusting in what Christ has done) is what makes you well. Its not your effort or performance. Its trust in His finished work on your behalf.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." — Romans 5:8

Our actions have consequences. Sometimes they make our relationships feel strained. Other times they can make us feel isolated even in a crowd. Something we said or did, or even a pattern of actions, creates distance between us and those around us.

We'd rather not have those feelings... But what if God, in His kindness, was allowing those feelings to help us see a much bigger picture?

If a careless word can wound a spouse, if a pattern of selfishness can create distance with our friends, if our pride can isolate us from the people who love us most then how much more does our sin affect our relationship with a holy, perfect God that desires fellowship with us?

God lets us feel the sting of broken human relationships so we might understand the greater tragedy: the depth of our sin that separates us from Him.

We were created for intimacy with God, and sin destroys that. Thankfully, He didn't leave us in our isolation. He sent His Son to bridge the gap we could never cross on our own.

This isn't to minimize our responsibility in apologizing or changing our actions toward others, but it could be that God is using the consequences of your sins in earthly relationships to awaken us to our deepest need: intimatcy with Him.

There was an issue with posting our service this morning, but here is the sermon for those that missed it:
