ATMOSPHERE: THE QUIET TIME

🌱 The Purpose of the Atmosphere: Growth

We are talking about an environment, atmosphere, and surrounding that will help us grow.

Why? Because:

We are trees, and trees must grow.

A Christian should not remain spiritually stagnant. We must intentionally create the right conditions for growth.

The preacher used the picture of a hospital diagnosis:

We do not want Dr. Jesus to diagnose us with “failure to thrive” — failure to grow, failure to do well.

So the atmosphere we create around our spiritual life matters.

1. Set a Practical, Unchangeable, and Regular Time

To build a strong quiet-time atmosphere, you must choose a time that is:

Practical — a time when you are realistically able to focus.

It should not be:

* When you are exhausted after work
* When the house is full of activity
* When the children are running around
* During your favorite TV program
* During a time when you already know you will be distracted

Unchangeable — protect that time. Do not keep moving it around whenever something else comes up.

Regular — make it a consistent habit.

✝️ The Example of Jesus

The Bible tells us that Jesus often withdrew to pray.

The emphasis is on often.

Quiet time should not only happen when we are in trouble or when we suddenly feel spiritual.

Set your time. Protect your time. Keep your time with God.

🔑 Key Principle

Spiritual growth requires intentional atmosphere.

🌳 You are a tree.
🌱 You are expected to grow.
⏰ Growth requires a regular time with God.
🙏 Create an atmosphere that makes growth possible.
