Our Stewart Methodist Women’s Ministry enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship at the home of Julia Speights on Sunday, September 20th, centered around the theme “God Is Working Beneath the Surface.”
Through our devotion, we were reminded that, just as much of a mushroom’s growth takes place unseen beneath the soil, God is often working in ways we cannot see or fully understand. His work may be hidden, but His presence and purpose are always at work. As Scripture reminds us, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
We enjoyed freshly prepared mushroom dishes and refreshments, followed by a very informative and interesting presentation from Mr. Martin Blair, owner of Underground Forest in Tuscaloosa. Mr. Blair introduced us to a variety of mushrooms, including Blue Oyster, Porcini, and Lion’s Mane, and shared a selection of microgreens, along with an overview of the health benefits of adding these nutritious foods to our diets. He also introduced us to mushroom tinctures and their availability.
It was a beautiful gathering of faith, fellowship, food, and learning, reminding us that just as God works beneath the surface in nature, He is also continually working beneath the surface in our own lives—even when we cannot yet see what He is doing.
We appreciate our speaker, Mr. Martin Blair, and our September hostesses, Julia Speights, Janice Neill, Susan Tant, and Glanna Clary for such a delightful afternoon!
