RooCatholic Campus Ministry A place to belong: we are the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at The University of Akron. We meet weekly on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm in the St.

We are the Roman Catholic Ministry for The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. Bernard's Newman Center for dinner fellowship and growth in our relationship with Christ. During the school year, we hold a student Mass at St. Bernard's Parish on Sunday's at 8:00 pm featuring contemporary Christian Music. Throughout the school year, we also plan, host or participate in different events including Chris

tmas Break and Spring Break Service Trips, Annual Valentine's Dance, Festival of Praise and many more. RooCatholic is here to celebrate with you in the good times, and support you through the bad. At RooCatholic you will be challenged, encouraged, and pushed to encounter Jesus Christ on a real and personal level. RooCatholic offers companionship that will allow you to experience the overflowing mercy and love God has to offer each and every person. And-- when you encounter this love your life will change radically. Human beings are created for fellowship and community. We all face sorrows and joys, trials and triumphs, on our journey to the Kingdom of God. We are also on Twitter and Instagram and YouTube RooCatholic Campus Ministry.

Zips! Help us give a warm welcome to our NEW RooCatholic Chaplain! Coming to The University of Akron from our neighbors in Stow, is Father Jon Hawkins from Holy Family Catholic Church! We are so excited to get have him and take after his guidance this academic year.

Before the Semester startsā€¦letā€™s get to know him a little bit more!

Fun fact - ā€œI strongly considered Akronā€™s Engineering program before entering seminary out of highschool with a dream of working as an engineer for Formula 1, WEC or IndyCar (in that order. WRC would have been sick, too)ā€

What is Fr Hawkins looking forward to most about chaplaincy? - ā€œSeeing what God will do at UAkron! But, more specifically, I hope to help our student body truly discover Jesus Christ and live in friendship with their Creator.ā€

We are eager to know Fr Hawkins even more and we love that heā€™s a Zip at heart too! May this semester bring us closer to Jesus and fill us with joyous fellowship!
