IT'S ALL IN GOD'S WILL

Community Christian Chapel was founded on August 9, 1987, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and Pastor Marvin Lee Hoover. As more and more people began attending, it became necessary to find a larger venue. Services were moved to Mogadore High School on Sunday mornings. Bible studies continued through the week in the homes of members. Community Christian Chapel praye

rfully considered building on a piece of property it had purchased in 1987. Due to zoning and other legal issues, Community Christian Chapel began searching out other options. In the summer of 1990, Community Christian Chapel purchased an unused church building located at 2306 18th Street SW, Akron, Ohio 44314, where it has remained for 27 years. Following the death of our beloved Pastor Marvin Lee Hoover on September 18, 2001, our congregation struggled to find a pastor who could help us through the loss and into the future. God, in His mercy, had placed Brother Kenneth Walker and Johnny Austin in our congregation some time before. We all grieved together and determined that God would see us through. At age 81, Brother Kenneth Walker stepped up and served as our pastor until, at age 89, health issues made it impossible for him to continue. On June 15, 2010, Pastor Walker also passed away. Following his death, we began a cycle of guest ministers. Pastor Eugene Cupp answered the call to help us, as did Pastor Wayne Lafollette. We reached out to area churches for names of preachers, and learned that Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, under God's Authorithy and the leadership of Pastor Cecil Farmer, is a training ground for Godly young men. Phone calls were made and Brother Robert Ash, Brother Chad Booth, Brother Jon Larrison and Brother Kyle Allen all agreed to come and help us. Week after week, one of these Godly men spoke life into us, as only the Word of God can. Prayerfully struggling to fill the pulpit with a Godly pastor, our numbers fell until only six (6) founding members remained faithful to this fellowship. It seemed we would be forced to close. We continued to pray and meet each service, and God delivered again and again! Somehow our expenses were always met. On January 22, 2012, after much prayer, God provided us a very willing vessel: Pastor Jonathon Larrison and his wonderful family agreed to come and serve. Our tiny congregation grew and, with so many helping hands, our Church building got some much-needed repairs and updates. God blessed, the Holy Spirit moved, and lives were changed. Pastor Jon began seeking willing young men out of our congregation to assist him. Brothers Nick DeBerte and Clay DeBerte heeded the call. After a few years, Pastor Jon and his family felt God's call to an out of state ministry. On July 27, 2014, Pastor James Johnson and his family walked through the doors of Community Christian Chapel. Pastor James believes in training up Godly men and women and allowing them to grow their faith and use their talents. Community Christian Chapel is blessed to have Pastor James Johnson, Brother Nick DeBerte, Brother Clay DeBerte and Brother Jake Copelin to preach God's Word and inspire all of us to be better Christians. We have dedicated, hard-working men and women, and much of the repairs and updates are completed. Community Christian Chapel has come a long way from its humble beginnings. All of our members are loving, compassionate, born-again Christians who love God with all their hearts. God is moving, prayers are answered, miracles happen, and lives are being changed.
