Father Jeremy framed the weekend for our congregation with this wisdom, “I’ll leave you on this holiday weekend with a favorite verse from Sirach 38:34 concerning the work of our hands and how it can be an act of prayer that stabilizes the world. This hangs on the wall in my office as it was a framed gift from all of you several years ago. It is a daily reminder of the importance of the work we do unto God.

“But they keep stable the fabric of the world, and their prayer is in the practice of their trade.”

I also highly recommend Porter’s Gate “Worship for Workers” album.

Today we prayed these words together in song.
We live in what we call the blessed tension of the already and not yet of God’s Kingdom.
This means Jesus’ Kingdom is already here—among us and within us—stirring, moving, and bringing life from death.
And yet, it is not fully realized.
We wait for Christ to put all things right, and we strive to live faithfully in the meantime.

Not making improvements, but also not burning it up and starting over. The Maker is out rescuing and renewing that which was already worthwhile and good.
