Sometimes when people talk about grief, they speak about it like it has a timeline. Like there’s a point where it should ease up or just step aside so life can return to what it once was.

But that hasn’t been my experience.
And I know it hasn’t been yours either.

Because grief doesn’t really follow a calendar.

It shows up in ordinary moments.
In the middle of a conversation.
While you’re driving.
While you’re standing in the kitchen doing something you’ve done a hundred times before and suddenly remembering that things are different now.

And sometimes, even after years, it can feel just as close as it did in the beginning.

Not always as sharp…but just as present.

It doesn’t matter if it’s been a few weeks, a few months, or many years.

There’s no ‘right place’ to be in your grief.
There’s only YOUR place.
And wherever that is today…it’s okay.

If you feel comfortable sharing…how long has it been since your loss?

Your fellow grief traveler,
Gary
