Hey Lions!
I hope your summer break has started with plenty of rest, family time, and fun adventures!
You recently received our Summer Scholar Challenge, and I hope each of you accepts the challenge and completes it during the summer.
In addition to our Academy challenge, I wanted to share another exciting reading opportunity for our students and families.
Second Lady Usha Vance has officially launched the Second Annual Summer Reading Challenge, a nationwide initiative designed to promote childhood literacy. Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to read and track 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 4, 2026. Participants who complete the challenge will receive a personalized digital certificate, an America 250th anniversary-themed bookmark, and a special prize. Students will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to visit Washington, D.C. and the White House with a parent or guardian.
Families can find the official guidelines, download the reading log, and submit completed forms through:
White House Summer Reading Challenge. https://www.whitehouse.gov/read/
So, Lions, are you up for the challenge?
📚 Read.

GO LIONS!
This summer, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, we are excited to invite all children (K-8) to join in the Second Lady’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. Participants will read and track 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 4. Every book counts!
