Today we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the African American community. On June 19, 1865, the news of emancipation finally reached Galveston, Texas—marking a pivotal turning point in our nation’s history.
Juneteenth is more than just a date; it’s a time to:
• Reflect on our past and the long journey toward liberty.
• Celebrate the incredible contributions and culture of Black Americans.
• Recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice and equality for all.
Let’s honor those who fought for freedom and continue to build a future where everyone can thrive.

Our parish was blessed by a visit from clergy and religious visiting Aiken County as part of a pastoral visit to migrant workers in our community. The Most Reverend Robert Brennan (Bishop of Brooklyn) and the Most Reverend Joseph Jude Tyson (Bishop of Yakima) presided at morning Mass today. Joining us in our celebration was Sister Joanna Okereke, Sister Meggie Flores (Farmworker Ministry), and support staff from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Thank you for being with us today at Mass and for working to meet the needs of all our neighbors, including migrant workers in Aiken and surrounding counties. Below are our pastor, Father Emmanuel, parishioners (Rebecca & Greg Wright) with members here for the pastoral visit.

On May 3rd, Dawson received his First Holy Communion during our 10am Mass. We are proud of Dawson’s hard work studying in preparation and for his joy in receiving the sacrament. May God bless his young man and his family as he continues to grow in faith.

Four of our parishioners received their First Holy Communion today with classmates from St Mary Help of Christians School. May God bless them today and all days as they grow in faith.

We had lovely Garden Mass this morning, followed by our an annual Easter Egg hunt/free-for-all! It was wonderful to worship with parishioners and visitors alike and we are grateful the rain stayed away! Share photos of your family in their Easter best in the comments!

“Most of our lives are spent in Holy Saturday. In other words, most of our days are not filled with the unbearable pain of a Good Friday. Nor are they suffused with the unbelievable joy of an Easter. Some days are indeed times of great pain and some are of great joy, but most are…in between.”

We are called to the wait of the Christian, which is called hope.
