I have a ministry called God’s Services and this is an evolving idea God has put on my heart.. When I got power I basically set up my home as an icehouse. I am trying to get the word out on how we can help our community folks without Power utilizing folks as theirs comes online. When this first happened and I got electricity I started setting up freezers on my porch . Empty freezers and getting them cold. I had my power but I could not hardy sleep in my up and running cold house with power and knowing others where scrambling to keep their stuff cold. I started filling every container I could possibly turn into ice. I started riding around to an adjacent neighborhood and people were so grateful. The problem I had is it took me so long long to produce ice and delivery was wearing me down. I have neuropathy and diabetes so I just kept thing how could I be more efficient. I also thought bagged ice is great but my funds are limited. I bought 20 bags of ice, but it melts quickly and also it’s asking harder to get and and requires asking people to pay for something. I started asking people on neighborhood programs and fb to freeze me water and let me just store and distribute. I started going by crosland park and delivering . Again people were greatful and I was able to keep my freezer stock as through networking. What I was doing was great but I kept having ideas come to mind how can I do more with limited resources. So I started thing what if we could get loaner freezers and work with business to let me stage loaner or donor freezers in strategic places and let churches and other volunteers in the community keep them full with frozen 1 gallon,2 liter , bottled water, Gatorades , freeze pops , and yes even ice. We can also even go to neighborhoods with no power and set up generators with loaner freezers. Heck many of them have empty freezers and I am sure with dedicated generators for loaner or donor freezers we could set up volunteers to man them. We could also set them at safe places like police stations so folks would not have to worry about donor generators getting stolen and use our radio stations and everyone with power or resources to store ice to freeze baby freeze. Mercy church said they can run 2 freezers for this purpose and Deb at Montmorenci trading post will let me put one there. I need partners to set up community freezers , make ice, stock freezers that get low. 88.3 Christian radio can get the word out if we put a sign on them with there number to notify when community ice chest is empty. I told the Aiken Co op about this and they said it’s a great idea. Sealed ice jugs are great when people can freeze and drop them in cause folks can drink as supplies thaw. Tap frozen bottles work better than ice for cooler freezings. People in need can set their coolers on their porches and people can ride through and deliver like I have been doing. Sorry for the long post, but I need volunteers to make jug ice, folks willing to build on the idea and get the word out. We need freezers down our rural roads and people to talk to business about setting up community free ice distribution center. I am working with a ministry Pastor Lex has created4impact.org that has tax deductible status. They are purchasing small grills and charcoal and supplies 8034713640 .My ministry is currently not for profit.Looking for churches businesses and anyone willing to help or share this post.
