It was a great stake conference with special speakers of all ages, music to touch the heart, a scriptorian and engaging Area Seventy Elder Bodhaine and a city council woman being touched by the genuine members and messages.

What a sweet treat to have our prophet play Silent Night on the piano, show us nativities in his home, and wish us a Merry Christmas! I love our prophet!
And I love this time of year to focus on the Savior!

Sending a big thank you to the Aiken Standard for highlighting our local hurricane relief efforts. It has been a massive undertaking with thousands volunteering their time to help those in need after the storm.

We have been blessed with an abundance of pears from our two trees this year. In fact, over 700 pounds of pears - way more than we needed for canning! Who could we share with? We started delivering bags to the neighbors and people at Church. But we still had way too many to process. So, we reached out and shared them with the Salvation Army soup kitchen, and two more pantries in our area. They were happy to add fresh fruit to their client's boxes.
It's a beautiful thing to share with others! Our prophet Russell M. Nelson has asked us to reach out and help "the one" to celebrate his 100th birthday in September for his 99+1 initiative. We hope that each "one" who gets to eat these pears knows we share them with love!
This photo shows Miss Addie with pears as she manages the food pantry at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Charities, close to Aiken, South Carolina.

It was a special day at the South Carolina state capitol. Late in March, the State House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution to commend Elder John Amos and his wife Michelle for their faithful service in Christ. Elder Amos, a nuclear engineer by trade, was named an Area Seventy and a member of the Tenth Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in April 2023.

The church has long had a presence in the Palmetto State. In 1839, the first Latter-day Saints came to South Carolina to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1947, the first stake, or group of congregations, was created in Columbia. It has since grown significantly in South Carolina, reporting 44,230 church members in seventy-nine congregations.

Elder Amos has served in a number of church callings, including bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, and president of the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. Under his direction, the church has provided service, humanitarian assistance, and stocked food pantries throughout South Carolina.

"This type of service transcends politics. It transcends race, economic prosperity, and worldly concerns. Grace becomes the great equalizer. The joy that comes from a life rooted in Jesus Christ is the best that you can find," remarked Rep. Ben Connell.

In 1990, Amos married Michelle Evette Wright, a woman of devout faith, who serves the church in many ways. Like her husband, she is also an engineer, having worked with NASA for over thirty years.
