Sharing a meal is woven into the rhythm of our lives, nourishing the body, delighting the senses, and drawing us into a deeper relationship with God and one another.

Together, on Thursday, July 16 5:30-8:30pm, women will explore the richness of foods found in Scripture, savor the sweetness of His presence, and awaken a longing for the heavenly feast prepared for us.

Get early-bird pricing through May 31 at sov.church/connect. Come, take your seat at the table!

Have you met Matt Jefferis?
😎 How did you first connect to Shepherd?
My connection to Shepherd started through my parents Jim and Vicki, who have been members for more than 20 years. My wife and I occasionally attended with them before we moved to Hudson, and our three girls also loved attending VBS each year. Those early connections helped make Shepherd feel like home, and the rest is history!

😎 What do you love about Shepherd?
The people. We love how personal and easy it is to feel at home.

😎 What’s your preferred, or actual, way to spend a day off?
Sleep in! A slow morning with at least 2 cups of coffee, time at the gym, a walk with my wife, and eating all my meals out somewhere tasty, ending the day with time in a hammock.

😎 Who has played a big role in your faith journey?
My parents of course get the first nod in raising me to know Jesus. My wife Krissa wanting our faith to be a priority for our family and for our 3 girls. The pastors and staff at Shepherd showing us how life should be lived as Jesus meant it to be and my friends Shane and Brian who continually pour into me. So thankful for you all!

😎 What's your most irrational fear?
Fuzzy peach skin

😎 How have you seen God work through our church, and in your new role as Production Manager?
I’ve seen God work through Shepherd from a different perspective by serving behind the scenes in Production - whether running lights at Circuit or producing our online services on Sundays. I get to witness moments where God moves in powerful ways during worship services, and it’s a blessing to help create spaces where people can connect with Him.

In my role as Production Manager, I’ve also seen God faithfully provide peace and guidance during live services when there are so many moving parts. In those moments, it often feels like He’s simply reminding me, “Take a deep breath, I’ve got you,” and He carries us through to create meaningful experiences for those worshiping both in person and online.

Welcome to the staff team, Matt; we're so grateful for you!

Have you met JoAnn Wert?
How did you first connect to Shepherd? I attended some worship services in 2002 and saw a message in the bulletin about the formation of a new small group for women on Tues morning with plans to study Jesus the One and Only by Beth Moore. I joined a group without knowing anyone and the rest is history.

If you could instantly become an expert in anything, what would it be? Human behavior

What’s one way you’ve seen God at work in your life recently? Brian and I had a roller coaster of a summer in 2025, with joy and sorrow colliding with unexpected losses and new life. HE was there for us in it all!

What do you love about Shepherd? The people and seeing God's Word in action through the Shepherd community

What’s your preferred, or actual, way to spend a day off? One on one time with someone special, combined with time alone

Who has played a big role in your faith journey? So many Christian women, they are such pillars of faith. Jann Maurer has been my adopted mom and spiritual compass for many years.

What's a dream you're currently chasing? Going anyplace I haven't been

What’s one thing God’s been teaching you lately? I don't have control of my life or anyone else's. He is the only place to find true peace

What's your most irrational fear? Not being able to move on my own

How have you seen God work through our church, and in your staff role as Care Ministry Coordinator? All people need community. God created us for that. We all need to be seen, heard and known. The Shepherd staff wants that for everyone. I see members of the Spiritual Care Team being the hands and feet of Jesus in beautiful ways.

We're so grateful for you, JoAnn!
