A Note to My Friends,

In The Jordan River Rules, I said God leads us in stages. In some way every stage is better than the last, and all the prior stages prepare us for the next. Five years ago, my life was disrupted when I stepped from my pastoral role to care for Katrina. Since then, I’ve largely been engaged in a fulfilling itinerant ministry that has taken me around the world and across the nation. I’ve met many of you on these journeys. I treasure the memory of each opportunity. But travel fatigue is real.

Now a new door has opened. I’m now Associate Pastor at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, not far from my home in Donelson.

Allen Jackson and I have been talking about this for a long, long time, but I simply couldn’t cancel my already-confirmed speaking appointments. Now those have all been fulfilled and we’ve booked very few for the future.

I’ll still be engaged in a limited traveling ministry, still have my blog, podcast, and daily 59-second sermons. And I’ll keep on writing, Lord willing. For years, I’ve offered the Prayer of Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:10), and I simply want to do each day what the Lord has ordered (Psalm 139:16).

“The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.”

PS - I’ll be preaching at all services at WOC on Saturday/Sunday, December 16 and 17. I’d love for you to come or watch. (You can also take a spin on their Christmas-season ice skating rink!).
