Memorial Day is more than the beginning of summer or a day away from work. It is a sacred moment to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to others and in defense of freedom. It invites us to pause with gratitude, reflect on sacrifice, honor grieving families, and pray for peace, unity, and hope in our nation.
It is a day to remember that freedom often comes at a great cost, and that courage, service, and love for others are gifts worth honoring with humility and thankfulness.
Prayer for Memorial Day
Heavenly Father,
Today we remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. We thank You for their courage, sacrifice, and willingness to protect others even at great cost.
Comfort the families who carry loss in their hearts, and surround them with Your peace and strength. Help us never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy each day.
Teach us to live with gratitude, compassion, and unity. May we be people who pursue peace, serve others faithfully, and reflect Your love in our communities.
We pray for wisdom for our leaders, protection for those who continue to serve, and healing for our nation.
In Your holy name, Amen.
