Addison Congregational Church

Addison Congregational Church Knowing God and Making Him Known Members here partake of numerous opportunities for service and leadership.

Addison Church is a community of believers dedicated to the ministry of God’s Word and to serving one another and the community as the expression of our worship of God. Our services are consciously traditional, designed to direct our attention toward God more than toward our circumstances or ourselves. We participate as lay readers and song leaders, and exercise our ministry gifts in small groups,

compassionate outreaches, bible studies, and children’s & youth ministry. We are deeply rooted in our community; our church has served Addison since June 10, 1884. We take our role as ambassadors of Christ seriously, and believe that our primary responsibility is to represent Christ to the village of Addison and its surrounding communities. We are not affiliated with any denominational organization; however, you will find us to be evangelical in character, reformed in theology and congregational in government. We value the teaching of the Word and warm, close fellowship with one another. It is our goal to increase in our knowledge of Christ, while helping others come to know Him as well.

Oswald Smith wrote, “Oh, to realize that souls, precious, never dying souls, are perishing all around us, going out into the blackness of darkness and despair, eternally lost, and yet to feel no anguish, shed no tears, know no travail! How little we know of the compassion of Jesus!” Let us turn from our selfish ways and draw so near to God in prayer that we hear His heart beat. He loved the world...! It's past time that we take our place in His field, and share the life of the Lord with others!

Someone is using our number to spoof caller ID. We're hearing from people around the country more than a bit upset by the spam calls. While it's nice to hear from people in W. Virginia, Missouri, and southern California, it's more than a little upsetting. We're notifying law enforcement, and praying for protection. To everyone harassed by these nuisances, please accept our most sincere apologies. And honestly, do what we do: if you don't recognize the number, don't answer it! If it's someone you know, who really needs you, they'll leave a message (usually!). Then, block the number! May God please deliver and keep us all!

"Your foundation is the Word of God applied. It’s not just the Word of God known. You will not see the intervention of God until He sees your obedience to His truth. God is waiting on you to take your rightful place in this world. He is waiting for you to rise to the occasion and secure your spot of significance in His kingdom made manifest on earth. But that only happens when you step out—fully, faithfully, and single-mindedly—according to the direction of His will" — Tony Evans

“Jesus didn't say, ‘Blessed are those who care for the poor.’ He said, ‘Blessed are we where we are poor, where we are broken.’ It is there that God loves us deeply and pulls us into deeper communion with himself.”

— Henri Nouwen

We’ll be meeting in-person and on-line tomorrow, Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Kevin will begin a new, passage by passage, study of the Gospel of Matthew. We'll come to this book looking to “see” Jesus, to “hear” from Him, and learn directly how we should live as people of God in this world. We’ll seek relevant, pertinent truth that can be applied to our daily lives. To join us on-line, connect through our website: www.addisoncongregational.com/medialive.html. Join us on-line or IRL! You are most welcome to the ministry of ACC!

John Wanamaker wrote, "I cannot too greatly emphasize the importance and value of Bible study—more important than ever before in these days of uncertainties, when men and woman are apt to decide questions from the standpoint of expediency rather than the eternal principles laid down by God Himself."

Wanamaker's life stands as a testament to right decisions. Let's follow his encouragement. Come and study scripture with us at ACC!

“The suddenness of the Lord's second advent is a truth that should lead every professing Christian to great searchings of heart. It should lead him to serious thought, both about himself and about the world. Think for a moment, how little the world is prepared for such an event” (J. C. Ryle). Are you ready? It's time to be prepared!
