Claggett is more than a place to gather — it’s part of a living ecosystem.

Located near the center of the Chesapeake Watershed, this land reminds us that renewal and connection happen not only in community, but in creation itself.

This month, we’re celebrating the water, land, and life that connect us all.

Every drop has a journey.

The rain that falls at Claggett eventually becomes part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed — connecting this land to rivers, wildlife, and communities across the region.

Watershed Awareness Month is a reminder that caring for the land starts right where we are.

We’re more connected than we realize.

Claggett sits on the Monocacy River within the Chesapeake Watershed, where every healthy habitat, native plant, and protected stream helps support the larger ecosystem.

Small actions on the land can have a ripple effect far beyond our campus.

What happens on this land matters downstream.

As part of the Chesapeake Watershed, Claggett is connected to a vast network of rivers, creeks, forests, farms, and communities.

This place reminds us that caring for the earth is something we do together.

What is a Riparian Buffer?

A riparian buffer is a protected strip of trees, grasses, and native plants along a stream or waterway that helps filter runoff before it reaches the water.

At Claggett, our 1,000-foot riparian buffer filters out an estimated 99% of runoff from the farm field — helping protect the health of the Chesapeake Watershed and the ecosystems downstream.

This Watershed Awareness Month, we’re grateful for the ways this land works quietly and naturally to care for the water that connects us all. 🌎

Did you know Claggett sits near the heart of the Chesapeake Watershed? 💧

Every stream, rainfall, and patch of healthy soil here connects to something bigger — eventually flowing to the Chesapeake Bay.

This month, we’re celebrating Watershed Awareness Month by paying closer attention to the land and water that sustain us all.
