“Farm Fresh Faith”

Adams Lutheran Church hosted their Vacation Bible School on May 26, 27th and 28th. It was held at the Boe farm, and the theme was “Farm Fresh Faith”. Thirty-one children learned about the parable of the mustard seed, how to be good soil and that God loves animals, taught by Nancy Boe. Thank you to Brandi Boehmer who led the crafts, where they painted clay pots, made seed bombs and planted flowers in their decorative flowerpot. Angela Vigen oversaw games, ranging from gunny sack races, dance freeze, three-legged race, pipeline and the HUGE hit was the rainbow parachute. Beth Bylin, the food lady, made sack lunches to eat on blankets in the yard and grilled hot dogs the final evening to share with family for the sendoff. Dacia Johnson led the music and the catchy tune the children went home singing, “I want to be thankful, I want to be grateful and remember all the good things the Lord has done...” They also did a little line dancing and shared with their family on the final night. Several Mothers stayed the time to help where needed and it was much appreciated. There were laughter and giggles, smiles and new friends. The best part was the excitement of learning about our Lord. Children came from the Adams area and grandchildren whose parents once attended VBS. Dolores Boe lives on the same farm and the children learned the song “Johnny Apple seed” and serenaded her on her porch. The sendoff was at the end of the third evening. Children sang their songs, danced and everyone watched a slide show of photos from the first two nights. It is easy to have a farm theme in our area. Children were reminded of the special people who feed the world and what the bible says about our farmers and ranchers. Thank you to all the children, parents, grandparents, helpers, and the Education Committee. What will the theme be next year?

April 28, 2026

Dear Family & Friends of Adams Mountain Lutheran,

We are in the process of repairing and replacing the floor in the church dining room. The concrete had heaved in two spots and became a tripping hazard that we could no longer avoid. The repair was done by Soblik Construction and thanks to the many helpers the area has had the existing carpet and tile removed. Currently, we are awaiting the vinyl planking to arrive, concrete to “cure”, and the availability of the installers to complete.

Like with any other project when we evaluated the remaining carpeted flooring, it shows signs of 40 plus years of wear, frayed edges, ripples and stains. Areas that have been re- stretched in the past are once again wavy.

No one knows the longevity of our church, given an aging and dwindling population. Our projection is 10-20 years and after that we hope at a minimum it will be maintained and used for special occasions.

Since the fire in the 1960’s, the charm of our old building has remained constant. We have a well-maintained, beautiful church. It has an inviting sanctuary with stained glass windows that the light radiates in.

Currently, the council is making decisions regarding funding. The WELCA and Men’s group are always willing to share their resources. The basement portion has been approved to come out of the general church budget.

Our request is twofold. Are you willing to make a financial donation? Another is for manual labor to remove existing carpet, baseboard and move fixtures for installers. Removing carpet on our own will save a substantial amount of the initial bid. The bid for installation, removal, and carpeting for the foyer, steps, landing and sanctuary is about $25,000. The entire project is $50,000.

Sometimes projects seem overwhelming or it’s easy to say it’s too much money or too much work with the number of worker bees we have. And sometimes we just need to ask for a little help.

We ask that you give prayerful consideration, and we thank you in advance.

In Christ’s Love,

Adams Mountain Lutheran Church
